A Letter from Los Angeles County Board Chair & Supervisor Hilda L. Solis
Dear Friends,
As a reminder, beginning yesterday, proof of full vaccination and photo ID is required for indoor entry into bars, breweries, wineries, distilleries, nightclubs, and lounges for all patrons and employees. Next week, on November 8th, the City of Los Angeles’ vaccine verification program, SafePassLA,will also go into effect, and will require proof of full vaccination for entry into the indoor portions of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, breweries, wineries, gyms, spas, nail salons, barbershops, movie theaters, shopping malls, and entertainment and recreation venues. This includes indoor portions of City facilities such as LA City Hall, senior centers, recreation centers, and service centers.
The COVID-19 vaccines remains the most powerful tools we have to both lower our risk of infection and protect against serious illness and death from COVID-19 if infected, as well as reducing the risk of transmitting to those around us. The more individuals vaccinated, the greater the layer of protection for those not yet eligible for vaccines. Getting vaccinated is the most important step you can take to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community – and to ultimately end this pandemic. For more information, or to make an appointment, visit VaccinateLACounty.com.
Also, this week the County began offering the Pfizer vaccine for those ages 5-11. More information regarding these child vaccinations is below, and I encourage everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated, especially ahead of the winter and holiday season.
And don’t forget – booster shots are now widely available for all three vaccines. If you are eligible for a booster, I encourage you to sign up and get your additional dose as soon as possible, especially if you are 65 and above or have underlying medical conditions.
Additionally, quarantining or isolating at home is also a key component of prevention and requires that all of us have a plan should we need to remain home. Please participate in routine screening testing, and if you or your child ends up being a close contact of a confirmed case, participate in contact tracing, and follow our Department of Public Health’s isolation and quarantine instructions.
If we work together to take care of each other, we will have a better chance at being successful.
Sincerely,
Chair Hilda L. Solis
Supervisor, First District

Los Angeles County is now administering the Pfizer vaccine to children 5 to 11 years old!
All Public Health sites began offering Pfizer for children 5 to 11 years old as of Wednesday morning along with many pharmacies and clinics. Some sites require appointments; walk-ins are welcome at the Public Health sites. Children will need to be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult and have a signed consent form.
A network of nearly 900 providers countywide will offer vaccines to children between the ages of 5 and 11 and this month, vaccines will be offered at 480 school-based events with a focus on schools in high-need areas. County mobile vaccination teams will supplement vaccinations offered by existing providers so that children have easy access to our most powerful protection from COVID-19.

Los Angeles County Department Public Social Services is urging eligible families in LA County to take advantage of the IRS’ 2021 Child Tax Credit (CTC) by claiming the benefit by the November 15, 2021 deadline. Most eligible families receive CTC payments automatically, but many who are considered “non-filers” or those who do not normally file income taxes, will need to confirm their eligibility. Families that haven’t filed a tax return for 2019 or 2020 will need to claim their CTC by visiting this website. |
