Pfizer Boosters Now Available for Select Groups
Pfizer boosters are now available for select groups in LA County. All people must have been vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine two dose series at least 6 months ago to meet the criteria. You will need to provide proof you received the 2 previous Pfizer doses (white vaccination card, a photo of your white card, or a digital record). You may also be asked to sign an attestation form indicating you meet the criteria to receive a booster. If you have questions about the risks and benefits of a booster dose, talk with your doctor.
You are eligible for a Pfizer booster, if you are:
If you are in an eligible group but you received the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine, you will need to wait until the FDA reviews the data about the need for and safety of these vaccines.
To make an appointment, visit VaccinateLACounty.com or make an appointment at a pharmacy or clinic that offers the Pfizer vaccine near you.
If you need a ride to get your booster, you can call the Public Health hotline at 1-833-540-0473 and you will be connected to free transportation.

California now has the lowest transmission rate of any state. In LA County, we continue to see a downward trend in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicators and thresholds to categorize community transmission of COVID-19, LA County has moved from “high” transmission to the “substantial” level, with a weekly case rate of 86 new cases per 100,000 residents. These trends provide some reassurance that higher vaccination rates and safety precautions at Labor Day celebrations helped avert the usual increase in cases we experience after major holidays.
Public Health remains focused on sustaining these gains by driving up the vaccination rates to avoid continued cycles of surges. While the vaccination coverage continues to slowly improve, not everyone who is eligible for a vaccine is getting vaccinated. Given the dominance of the Delta variant, wherever there are pockets of unvaccinated people, COVID-19 will continue to spread, and unfortunately, continued transmission creates opportunities for new variants of concern to take hold that may be resistant to the current vaccines.
