A Letter from Los Angeles County Board Chair & Supervisor Hilda L. Solis
Dear Friends,
Starting October 7th, you will need to show proof of at least one dose of vaccination to be admitted to indoor portions of bars, nightclubs, breweries, wineries and lounges. By November 4th, customers and employees will need to show proof that they are fully vaccinated. Additionally, beginning October 7th you will need to show proof of full vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test to enter outdoor mega events of more than 10,000 people, as well as theme parks.
Acceptable proof of vaccination status includes a photo identification with any one of the following:
- CDC COVID-19 vaccination record card (white card)
- World Health Organization (WHO) vaccine record card (yellow card)
- California Department of Public Health (CDPH) COVID-19 digital vaccination record
- Other COVID-19 digital vaccination record issued by an approved company
- Documentation of vaccination from the healthcare provider or entity that provided the COVID-19 vaccines
- California Immunization Registry (CAIR2) vaccination record
The vaccination proof should include the person’s name, type of COVID-19 vaccine, and the date of the doses administered. The person can show the vaccination card, a photo of the card as a separate document, or a photo of the card stored on a phone or electronic device.
Over 75% of LA County residents over 12 years old have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine so far. We are making progress, but that still leaves 3 million adults (and every child under 12) unvaccinated and vulnerable to this virus.
Also, beginning today LA County is now administering Pfizer booster third doses after they were authorized by the CDC and the FDA. If you were fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, you are eligible for a booster dose six months after your second shot if you fall under one the following categories:
- Ages 65 years or older
- Residents of long-term care facilities
- 18 to 64 years with underlying medical conditions
- 18 to 64 years with high institutional or occupational risk, including healthcare workers, first responders, teachers and day care staff, grocery workers, and workers in homeless shelters or prisons
For those of you who received the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, I ask that you please wait until the FDA reviews the data about boosters and determines the need for and safety of boosters for these vaccines. If you have not gotten vaccinated yet, don't wait any longer. Visit www.VaccinateLACounty.com (English) or www.VacunateLosAngeles.com (Spanish) to see vaccination opportunities near you.
Sincerely,
Chair Hilda L. Solis
Supervisor, First District
