Community Violence Reduction Division
 District Attorney George Gascón met with Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore and community leaders recently to discuss community violence reduction efforts in four
Los Angeles neighborhoods.
“Public safety strategies have traditionally been reactive and reactionary, instead of proactive and preventative,” District Attorney Gascón said. “We will be taking a much more proactive role to intervene and to prevent crime, both through a law enforcement lens and also through a community and public health lens.”

 Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has created an independent group – the Factual Analysis Citizen Consulting Team – to re-examine fatal use-of-force incidents by law enforcement officers and recommend further action when appropriate.
“Significant concerns have been raised by law enforcement officials, civil rights attorneys, activists and others regarding the handling of numerous police use-of-force cases,” said District Attorney Gascón. “In order to restore trust and move forward as a community, I am convening this group to thoroughly review the evidence and make recommendations on cases that we may need to examine more closely.”

on Immigration Consultant Scam
 District Attorney George Gascón has released his first video public service announcement (PSA) warning people of immigration scams.
There are versions of the PSA in English and Spanish.

 Deputy District Attorney Luke Sisak, of the Cyber Crimes Division, has received a cybersecurity certification that will benefit the prosecution of complex high-tech cases.
Sisak recently completed a Global Information Security Fundamentals (GISF) course that provides training in the technical aspects of computers and networking. The certification is rare among lawyers.
He said the training is beneficial when reviewing investigators' findings in complex cases involving online threats, wire fraud and cryptocurrency.

 The District Attorney’s Office participated in Supervisor Holly Mitchell’s Juneteenth
Celebration & Resource Fair on June 18 at Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park in Los Angeles. Victim Services Representatives Monique Jordan (left) and Skylr Mims-Emanuel provided those in attendance with resources about the office’s victim services. Facility dog Nora was on hand, too.
 The District Attorney’s Crime Victims Advisory Board (CVAB) hosted a virtual community event titled “New Visions for Survivor Needs” on June 29. Follow the CVAB on Twitter or Instagram.
District Attorney Tours Offices
 District Attorney George Gascón has committed to visit every branch and area office in Los Angeles County during the pandemic. He has met with employees at the Bellflower Area Office (pictured) and this month visited the Glendale Area Office, the Pasadena Branch Office, the Conviction Integrity Unit and the Resentencing Unit.
