Antonia Jiménez, director of Los Angeles County’s Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), will host a virtual Town Hall at 9 a.m. on May 11 to increase the public’s awareness of CalFresh, the country’s most effective anti-hunger program. On May 4, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a motion, authored by Board Chair Hilda L. Solis, to proclaim the month of May as “CalFresh Awareness Month” throughout Los Angeles County.
At this virtual event, Director Jiménez will also recognize community partners who’ve helped sign people up for CalFresh during the pandemic. With over 14,000 employees serving 3.5 million County residents, DPSS is the country’s largest public social services agency.
