The County of Los Angeles is regularly updating resources on COVID-19 and offers today's update in an effort to keep you and yours informed. Please share the following up-to-date information:
Can The Trash!
The Department of Beaches and Harbors encourages kids to celebrate Coastal Cleanup month by learning how ocean pollution begins in their neighborhood, no matter where they live. Students in Grades 3-5 can enter the poster contest by submitting artwork containing environmental messages about keeping the beaches and ocean clean. Five winners from each grade will have their artwork wrapped around beach trash barrels on some of Southern California’s most popular beaches. The deadline for entries is Jan. 10, 2021.
Visit The Department of Beaches and Harbors for more information on how to enter!
When visiting our lovely L.A. County Beaches, always remember to practice social distancing, wear a mask when not in the water and can the trash to help keep our beaches clean and safe!
Find Your Local Flu Shot Clinic
It is recommended that everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated for the flu. There are many different places where you can get your flu shot, including your doctor’s office, pharmacies, and the local health department. Some employers may even offer the vaccine to their employees onsite.
FREE FLU SHOTS AT SELECT LA COUNTY LIBRARIES
Beginning this October, LA County's Department of Public Health (DPH) and LA County Library will be offering free flu vaccines to those 6 months of age & older at select Library locations across the County. Flu shot clinic dates & locations for October & November 2020 are being finalized and will be announced here, once available. Health insurance will not be a requirement.
If you're thinking of getting a flu vaccine, LA County recommends calling your regular health care provider to see what other shots you may need. If you don’t have a regular provider, dial 2-1-1 (the LA County Information Line) or visit publichealth.lacounty.gov for a list of no cost or low-cost vaccine providers.

COVID-19 Safety Compliance Certification Program
LA County is helping train businesses on the implementation of COVID-19 safety protocols through a no-cost online training course called the COVID-19 Safety Compliance Certification Program (CSCCP). Once completed, business owners receive a certificate, and window seal to display on their storefront, which can reassure employees and customers alike that the business is following COVID-19 infection control and physical distancing requirements.
If you have not yet completed the CSCCP course or want to learn more about it, visit publichealth.lacounty.gov/eh/covid19cert.htm. Help support your employees, customers, and community while on the Road to Recovery.
Great Plates
Great Plates Delivered has been extended through October 9th. LA County's meal assistance program offers eligible seniors with three (3) home-delivered meals a day. Seniors over 65, seniors 60-64 years of age who have been diagnosed or exposed to COVID-19 or those at high-risk for COVID-19 may qualify. When you help a senior connect to Great Plates Delivered, you're also helping your local restaurant, hospitality and transportation community get back to work.
