Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Stunned by the Loss of Esteemed and Dedicated Homicide Lieutenant

On Thursday, February 21, 2019 a beloved member of the LASD family passed away surrounded by family, friends and colleagues. 58-year-old Homicide Lieutenant John Corina was a 36 year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, a man who raised the bar on having what it takes to be an outstanding investigator. He was a tenacious and well respected leader, and he will be greatly missed.

LASD Has Located Four Individuals Since Project Lifesaver Tracking Bracelets Have Been Implemented

Project Lifesaver is a program where individuals with mental health impairments can be located if they were to wander off.  Today, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Aaron Chatman walked away from a medical facility in Pasadena. Aaron is diagnosed with autism and is developmentally disabled. Aaron was located a little over an hour later by  MET deputy John Yateem.

Lomita Station Deputies Turn Tickets into Treats- Handing Out Gift Cards as an Act of Kindness

Instead of handing out tickets, sheriff's deputies handed out gift cards to some drivers in Lomita on Sunday. It was all part of Random Act of Kindness Day. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Lomita Station teamed up with the Utopian Society Project to hand out gift cards in memory of fallen officers.

Initial Plan to Turn Men's Central Jail into Mental Health Jail Now Headed in Direction of Mental Health Treatment Facility

The new center will be operated by the Department of Health and Human Services and staffed by the Department of Mental Health. The new center will focus on healing, not punishment.

LA County Sheriff's Detectives Looking for Suspect in Fatal Hit and Run that Killed One Female and Injured Two Children

A hit-and-run driver killed a grandmother and injured the two grandchildren she was walking home from school in La Mirada Wednesday afternoon. Authorities are searching for a dark gray, four-door, 2015-2017 Toyota Camry with damage to its front and right side.

LA County Homicide Makes an Arrest After Suspect Allegedly Fatally Punched a Lancaster Man

Suspect Manuel Berryman was arrested on Tuesday after turning himself in at the Lancaster station. Berryman had an arrest warrant issued for his involvement in the Jan. 3 assault that resulted in the death of 61-year-old Frank Borsotti. The crime was captured on surveillance video.
