Fans attending the L.A. Rams vs. L.A. Chargers football game on Sunday, September 23 may have been rooting for different teams, but the rivals shared one philosophy; the designated driver is the real MVP.

At the big game, employees from the L.A. County Probation Pomona Area Office-Adult DUI Unit teamed up with the NFL and the Southern California Region of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to encourage fans to plan ahead and designate a non-drinking driver to help get everyone home safely after the game and festivities.

Probation employees worked at the MADD booth, handing out flyers and encouraging fans to avoid drunk driving.  They also gave out incentives to all designated drivers.

“We would like to thank you for coming out and joining us at the Rams vs. Chargers game," said Mothers Against Drunk Driving Program Manager Georgina Avilez. "With the help of the Probation Department, law enforcement, and our non-profit and community partners, we are making our communities safer."

By the end of the game, 600 fans had pledged to designate a non-drinking driver.

“Thanks to our awesome Probation DUI team for always going the extra mile," said Pomona Valley Area Office Director Debbie Nelson. "We are proud to support the community in providing continued awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving.”
