Mayor of Maywood Ramon Mojarro Found Guilty of Animal Cruelty

On February 9, 2015, a 5-year-old female, brown, Pit bull mix named Hershey was relinquished to staff at the Downey Animal Care Center by an employee of Ramon Medina Mojarro. Hershey was immediately examined and considered irremediably suffering on intake, so Downey staff humanely euthanized Hershey.

Yesterday, a jury found Maywood Mayor Ramon Medina Mojarro guilty of one misdemeanor count of cruelty to an animal and one misdemeanor of failure to care for an animal.

The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) Major Case Unit investigated this case and turned it over to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.  District Attorney’s office stated that Mr. Mojarro will be sentenced on September 7, 2018.
