Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project Update
The Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project — which will separate train traffic from vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists by constructing an underpass beneath Van Buren Boulevard and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks — is moving through one of its most active construction phases yet.
January 2026: Shoring and Excavation Completion Greenlights UPRR Bridge Construction
This work established the foundation needed to begin building the structure that will carry train traffic over the future Jurupa Road underpass.
Construction Now Underway: UPRR Bridge and Permanent Track
Construction started on the UPRR bridge over Jurupa Road in January 2026 with completion expected in Fall 2026. Grading for the permanent railroad track also began in January 2026, with track construction planned to begin this month. Permanent track completion is expected by late 2026.
These are two of the most consequential phases of the project because they will facilitate the construction and operation of the UPRR tracks in their permanent location. Current activities are building the infrastructure that eliminates the at-grade rail crossings and improves safety and mobility for thousands of Jurupa Valley residents now and for generations to come.
Businesses Are Open — Shop Local
The local businesses that call this neighborhood home are open and ready to welcome you. Whether you are grabbing a meal, running an errand, or looking for a service, choosing to shop and dine near the project corridor makes a real difference for the community during construction.
Support your neighbors — their doors are open.
