Message from the City Manager
As we begin a new year, Jurupa Valley continues to build momentum toward a vibrant and exciting future. In 2025, the opening of The Shops at Jurupa Valley—including the Target store—helped launch our City on a positive trajectory by expanding shopping options, creating jobs, and attracting new investment. Building on that success, we’re excited about new businesses opening in 2026, including Sprouts Farmers Market, which will bring even more convenience and grocery options to our community.
The City is also launching a new freight analysis to help improve truck routes and develop a comprehensive goods movement plan. This effort is focused on supporting our logistics and industrial sectors while protecting the quality of life in our residential neighborhoods. Your input is essential—please take the online survey and share what you would like to see addressed in this freight analysis.
Lastly, we congratulate Mayor Brian Berkson and Mayor Pro Tem Chris Barajas on their continued service in the capacity of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem for 2026. We appreciate their continued leadership and dedication to guiding Jurupa Valley forward.
We look forward to a productive and exciting year ahead.

Each December, the Jurupa Valley City Council holds its annual reorganization to appoint its leadership for the coming year. During this process, the Council selects a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem from among its members to help guide the City’s direction and priorities.
In 2026, Councilmember Berkson will continue to serve as Mayor, and Councilmember Barajas will also serve a second year as Mayor Pro Tem.
