Jurupa Valley Residents – Please Don’t Move Backyard Produce!
An invasive pest called the Oriental fruit fly has been found in our area. These pests pose a serious threat to local fruits and vegetables by damaging crops and spreading quickly to neighboring communities.
You can help protect our community’s produce by:
-
Not moving homegrown fruits or vegetables off your property.
-
Disposing of infested produce properly by sealing it in plastic bags before placing it in the trash.
-
Reporting any suspicious fruit damage or maggots to the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) at 1-800-491-1899.
Learn more about Oriental fruit flies and whether you are in the quarantine area at CAFruitFly.com

Be Ready for a PSPS Event: Essential Information for Jurupa Valley Residents
As wildfire season approaches, Southern California Edison (SCE) may implement Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) to reduce the risk of wildfires. A PSPS occurs when weather conditions make it unsafe for electricity to remain on in certain areas, and power is temporarily turned off to prevent sparks or other hazards.
Being prepared for power outages is key to staying safe and minimizing inconvenience. SCE offers comprehensive preparation tips and resources for customers affected by outages.
Stay Informed:
- Visit SCE’s website for current power outages: Check Outage Status webpage
- Sign up for customer alerts to receive notifications about potential PSPS events.
- Outage specific customer service issues: Call, 800-611-1911
Staying informed and prepared helps protect your household and the community during PSPS events.
