 The City of Jurupa Valley is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity available for local entrepreneurs interested in starting a new business. This initiative is designed to support aspiring business owners by providing financial assistance to help turn their ideas into reality.
SBDC Start is a dynamic six-week webinar series designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge and tools to turn their business ideas into reality. By completing the program, you'll gain the skills needed to confidently start your own venture.Upon successful completion, eligible participants may apply for the County of Riverside’s Thrive Grant—a $2,500 grant opportunity to help kickstart your business. A limited number of grants are available and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mayor's Business Visitation Program - Mercado's Nursery
 Mayor Brian Berkson presents Mayor's Business Visitation Program.
This month, the Mayor's Business Visitation Program highlights Mercado's Nursery, a family-owned business rooted in the community since 2005. Operated by brothers Miguel and Jesus Mercado, the nursery runs two locations—9790 59th Street and 4797 Fairhill Place. Drawn to Jurupa Valley for its ideal climate for cultivating plants and trees, the Mercado's have built a reputation for providing healthy, quality greenery to local residents. Although recent years have brought challenges, including the need to downsize their workforce, they remain dedicated to serving the Jurupa Valley community with the same passion and care that has defined their business for two decades.

Groundbreaking - Vallarta Supermarket

On Thursday, June 26, Jurupa Valley's City Council, joined by Assembly Member Leticia Castillo and Riverside County District 2 Supervisor Karen Spiegel celebrated the groundbreaking of Vallarta Supermarket, which will serve as the anchor tenant of the new Van Buren Marketplace Shopping Center. Located at 4751 Van Buren Boulevard, the new development spans approximately 117,300 square feet and will bring new shopping and dining opportunities to residents across Jurupa Valley.

Register Your Business
All businesses must register with the City of Jurupa Valley to obtain a Business Registration Certificate. Registering your business ensures your business is operating in the proper zone and is a permitted use. Businesses must also renew their business registration on an annual basis to remain compliant with the City of Jurupa Valley Municipal Code.
Businesses that are not physically located within the City limits may also be required to obtain a City of Jurupa Valley Business Registration Certificate if they are working within the City.

The Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project will create a four-lane underpass on Jurupa Road under Van Buren Blvd. Upon completion, this underpass will significantly improve safety and traffic circulation for its users.

 MicroEnterprise Collaborative of Inland Southern California consists of a diverse coalition of community leaders dedicated to improving small business development in the Inland Empire and eastern Los Angeles County. The purpose of the MicroEnterprise Collaborative is to create and sustain business and jobs through micro-business development.

State & Federal Clean Energy Incentives
 The Office of Economic Development has launched a new Clean Energy Tax Incentives and Federal Programs webpage on RivCoED.org. This section of the webpage compiles a variety of state and federal incentives available to support clean energy innovation and sustainability efforts in Riverside County. These opportunities, including the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the California Energy Commission’s programs, provide a range of tax credits, grants, and funding options for businesses and entrepreneurs.

Resume Workshop & Job Fair

The City of Jurupa Valley is pleased to announce an upcoming partnership between the City’s Economic Development team, Reach Out, and the Jurupa Valley Chamber of Commerce to host a Resume Workshop and Job Fair this August. These events aim to support local job seekers by providing valuable resources to enhance their employment opportunities. In preparation for the Job Fair, Reach Out will host a Resume Workshop to assist participants in developing and polishing their resumes. The Job Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, at Skyview Event Center.

Labor and Employment Training
 Friday, July 18, at 1 PM (webinar)
The California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) is collaborating with the California Chamber of Commerce to bring free, easy-to-understand webinars on key labor and employment topics. Small businesses must stay informed about evolving employment laws and regulations to prevent penalties, wage disputes, and legal challenges. This training series provides expert guidance on employment laws that apply from recruiting and hiring, to wage and hour requirements, employee classification rules, employee leave rights, and other employer responsibilities.

Disaster Resilient Workplace

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), in partnership with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Disaster Resistant Business (DRB), is offering a free Resilient Workplace training series for small businesses and nonprofits. The training focuses on developing practical, customized disaster plans to help organizations remain operational after emergencies.

Riverside County Monthly Job Fair
 July 25, 2025, from 9 AM - 12:30 PM
The Riverside County Workforce Development will resume hosting their monthly job fairs at their main office, located at 1325 Spruce St., Riverside, CA, 92507. This event is free to the public. Several public agencies and for-profit businesses will be present for this event. In addition, Riverside County's Workforce Development staff provides job seekers with a career coach, resume assistance, and interviewing resources such as mock interviews, job interview tips, and how to answer common interview questions. Job seekers are asked to bring several copies of their updated resume and to dress professionally.
