Here’s what’s coming up in May:
-

-
Inaugural Veterans Town Hall with Supervisor Spiegel in Norco – May 7
-
Public Works Open House – May 10
-
Code Enforcement Community Meeting (District 4) – May 21
-
Jurupa Valley Baseball Night with the Quakes – June 4
We're also proud to announce that Jurupa Valley has been named a Tree City USA, a national recognition of our efforts to plant more trees and enhance the green spaces that make our City vibrant and sustainable. This achievement reflects years of hard work by our dedicated Public Works team—and there’s more to come!
Thank you for being part of Jurupa Valley’s journey. Whether you’re attending an event or simply enjoying the improvements around town, your presence helps shape the future of our community.
Warm regards,

Mayor Brian Berkson made a special visit last month to the second-grade Dual Language Immersion class at Sunnyslope Elementary.
As part of their social studies curriculum, the class is learning about government and how it functions. Mayor Berkson spoke with the students about his role in local government and what it means to serve as Mayor.

On April 9, 2025, City officials joined the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in honoring the heroic legacy of Deputy Isaiah Cordero during a moving Highway Dedication ceremony at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff Station. Deputy Cordero’s sacrifice will forever be etched in our hearts—and now, along our roads. The unveiled memorial sign will soon be placed along the 60 Freeway between Pyrite Street and Valley Way as a lasting tribute to his courage, service, and ultimate sacrifice. Let us stand united in remembrance of all those who protect and serve our communities.

The City of Jurupa Valley is proud to announce its official designation as a Tree City USA—a first in the City's history. This national recognition, awarded by the Arbor Day Foundation, honors Jurupa Valley’s commitment to urban forestry, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
The City celebrated this milestone during its Arbor Day and Earth Day event on Tuesday, April 22. Congressman Mark Takano joined the celebration, helping plant a ceremonial tree at the Jurupa Valley Operations Center, home of the City’s Public Works Department. Click here to watch a video of the celebration with Congressman Takano.
“This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our Public Works team,” said Public Works Director Paul Toor. “Their ongoing efforts to plant and care for trees throughout Jurupa Valley made this recognition possible—and it’s a commitment we plan to continue for years to come.”
With this designation, the City reaffirms its goal to build a greener, healthier future and to inspire residents to take pride in protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
