Welcome to the March Edition of Jurupa Valley's Economic Development Monthly Report.
The Riverside County Office of Economic Development is proud to announce March 2025 as Riverside County's Arts & Culture Month. Community members can participate in the festivities by obtaining a commemorative "Exploration Passport", which will be available at Jurupa Valley City Hall (8930 Limonite Avenue), any Riverside County Library System branch, and other designated locations. As you explore your chosen destination, your passport will be stamped, creating a lasting memento of the experience. Certain locations will also host special events on specific days, offering attendees the chance to engage in enjoyable activities.

Grand Opening - Cold Stone Creamery

Cold Stone Creamery has opened its first location in Jurupa Valley! Dozens of people were in attendance for the long awaited return of Cold Stone. Cold Stone opened to the public on February 14th and is located at 4190 Pyrite St., Unit 106, within the Shops at Jurupa Valley. Attendees were treated to 50% off on Cold Stone's unique ice cream creations and were made on their signature frozen granite stone. This location is also hiring both seasonal and year round positions.

Grand Opening - Sun's Kitchen

Sun's Kitchen recently opened to the public on Saturday, February 15th and hosted a grand opening ceremony on Thursday, February 27th. Sun's Kitchen is a Chinese eatery is located at 4190 Pyrite St., Unit 104, within the Shops at Jurupa Valley. Several members of Jurupa Valley's City Council and Planning Commission were in attendance for Sun's Kitchen grand opening. The event featured a Lion Dance performance, a deep-rooted Chinese ritual to bring good fortune, prosperity, and success. In addition, the first 50 attendees received a free lunch and a slice of cake.

The Mayor’s Business Visitation Program continues with a visit from Mayor Brian Berkson to Los Dos Pablos Restaurante, owned by Joselyn Hernandez. Joselyn was born and raised in Jurupa Valley and has a deep affection for the Jurupa Valley community. Shop Jurupa Valley Campaign
This is a reminder of the importance of shopping and dining in Jurupa Valley. Shopping and dining locally accomplishes the following:
- Reduces air pollution since automobiles travel fewer miles
- Supports existing and creates new jobs
- Stimulates our local economy
- Facilitates community building
- Allows discovery of unique finds
- Re-circulates money back into our community (“multiplier effect”)
- Encourages improved customer service
Register Your Business
All businesses must register with the City of Jurupa Valley to obtain a Business Registration Certificate. Registering your business ensures your business is operating in the proper zone and is a permitted use. Businesses must also renew their business registration on an annual basis to remain compliant with the City of Jurupa Valley Municipal Code.
Businesses that are not physically located within the City limits may also be required to obtain a City of Jurupa Valley Business Registration Certificate if they are working within the City.

Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project
The Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project will create a four-lane underpass on Jurupa Road under Van Buren Blvd. Upon completion, this underpass will significantly improve safety and traffic circulation for its users.

 MicroEnterprise Collaborative of Inland Southern California consists of a diverse coalition of community leaders dedicated to improving small business development in the Inland Empire and eastern Los Angeles County. The purpose of the MicroEnterprise Collaborative is to create and sustain business and jobs through micro-business development.

State & Federal Clean Energy Incentives
 The Office of Economic Development has launched a new Clean Energy Tax Incentives and Federal Programs webpage on RivCoED.org. This section of the webpage compiles a variety of state and federal incentives available to support clean energy innovation and sustainability efforts in Riverside County. These opportunities, including the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the California Energy Commission’s programs, provide a range of tax credits, grants, and funding options for businesses and entrepreneurs.

 The Riverside County Office of Economic Development and Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center are providing up to $5,000 for businesses located in Riverside County. All existing businesses and new businesses that started on or after July 1, 2022 are eligible to apply.

Join us on the Jurupa Valley Chamber of Commerce for Keeping You Fire Ready & Fire Safe, a vital presentation on fire prevention, suppression, and emergency preparedness. Chief William Otterman from CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department will provide expert insights on department organization and duties, the role of the Office of the Fire Marshal in fire prevention, and the importance of defensible space. Attendees will also gain practical knowledge on creating action plans, assembling emergency supply kits, and responding to evacuation warnings and orders.

Code Enforcement Community Meetings
 The City of Jurupa Valley has begun a series of community meetings to inform and interact with the public regarding the city's Code Enforcement program. Code Enforcement addresses health, safety and nuisance concerns; maintains/increases property values; supports economic development; and works to eliminate blight.
By attending these meetings, community members and business owners can stay informed on local regulations and code enforcement procedures. In addition, these meetings allow the public to meet their local enforcement officers, ask questions, and obtain helpful resources.

Thursdays, beginning on March 20 - April 24, from 3 - 5 PM (6 Week Course)
Calling all veteran entrepreneurs! Successfully launch your businesses with this program as we cover topics on business planning, finance, market analysis, digital marketing, social media, licenses, permits, and more. Veteran Entrepreneurs Business Start is specifically focused on military veterans that are looking to start their first business. Registration for this program is free.
At the completion of the program, eligible participants can apply for a County of Riverside grant of $2,500.

Riverside County Monthly Job Fair
 March 28, 2025, from 9 AM - 12:30 PM
The Riverside County Workforce Development will resume hosting their monthly job fairs at their main office, located at 1325 Spruce St., Riverside, CA, 92507. This event is free to the public. Several public agencies and for-profit businesses will be present for this event. In addition, Riverside County's Workforce Development staff provides job seekers with a career coach, resume assistance, and interviewing resources such as mock interviews, job interview tips, and how to answer common interview questions. Job seekers are asked to bring several copies of their updated resume and to dress professionally.
