Welcome to the November Edition of Jurupa Valley's Economic Development Monthly Report.
 National Write a Business Plan Month is held annually every December, a fitting time for business owners to cement their business plans in preparation for the new year. Writing a business plan is the foundational and most important aspect of any business and organization, new or old. A business plan serves as a roadmap to the activities of the business, its goals and aspirations, the number of resources needed to run the business, the intended sources from which the resources will come, and more. Business plans are the lifeblood of every business.

Grand Opening - PLN Hats & Apparel

PLN Hats and Apparel has officially opened in Jurupa Valley on Saturday, November 30th. PLN Hats is located at 7920 Limonite Ave., Suite E. This business is owned by famed tuba player Jose Garcia, known as Pelon. Pelon is a band member from the popular Mexican group Fuerza Regida. The grand opening event attracted hundreds of fans who arrived at 5:30 a.m. to check out PLN's latest merchandise. Pelon, a Jurupa Valley native, signed autographs and took pictures with numerous fans in attendance.

Grand Opening - CiC Properties

CiC Properties recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, November 19th. CiC Properties is located at 5850 Etiwanda Ave., # 208. Formerly a home occupation business, CiC Properties will now be expanding to their new office space. CiC Properties is a full-service Real Estate company and has listings in Los Angeles and Inland Empire areas. CiC Properties is a full-service Real Estate company that works with sellers, buyers, property owners and tenants in the Los Angeles and Inland Empire areas.

Ribbon Cutting - Circle K

Circle K recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 21. Located at 4082 Pyrite St., Circle K features a gas station, fresh food, snacks, and refreshments. Circle K is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. In addition to the Jurupa Valley location, Circle K operates over 7,230 in the U.S. and have a global presence in over 20 countries. 1-Year Anniversary - Alvarado's Mexican Grill

Alvarado's Mexican Grill celebrated their 1st year anniversary on November 20th. Alvarado's commemorated the event by hosting an anniversary celebration. Guests included family and friends from Alvarado's, the Jurupa Valley Chamber of Commerce, and a representative from District 2 Karen Spiegel's office. Alvarado's offers rich and flavorful Mexican cuisine such as breakfast burritos, tacos, an array of appetizers, and freshly made salsas. Alvarado's also boasts a strong Yelp rating of 4.7 out of 337 reviews!

Mayor's Business Visitation Program - Family Discount

Welcome to Family Discount, owned by Frank Ye. For over 25 years, Family Discount has been providing affordable merchandise to the Jurupa Valley community. Frank has operated Family Discount for over five years and continues to provide low-cost goods. Frank characterizes Family Discount as a one-stop destination for all family needs at unbeatable prices. Customers can find a wide assortment of beauty essentials such as eyelashes, lipsticks, and nail polish. In addition, Family Discount sells kitchen and cleaning supplies, pet items, toys for all ages, seasonal clothing, and school supplies.
Since 2019, Frank has dealt with hardships such as the coronavirus pandemic, inflation, and a grade separation project. Frank has also been the victim of retail theft and has physically fought off thieves on countless occasions. However, Frank remains committed to serving the Jurupa Valley community with low-cost goods and quality customer service.

Small Business Workshop

The City of Jurupa Valley recently hosted a business workshop at City Hall on November 20th. Attendees were provided refreshments and appetizers by Grocery Outlet and Ryoshi Sushi Japanese Restaurant. The Business Workshop primarily focused on two areas: retail theft and support services for business owners. Guest speakers at this event included the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Microenterprise Collaborative, the Jurupa Valley Chamber of Commerce, First Community Capital, and City staff. Thank you to all of those in attendance, and the City of Jurupa Valley looks forward to hosting a similar event in early 2025.

Shop Jurupa Valley Campaign
This is a reminder of the importance of shopping and dining in Jurupa Valley. Shopping and dining locally accomplishes the following:
- Reduces air pollution since automobiles travel fewer miles
- Supports existing and creates new jobs
- Stimulates our local economy
- Facilitates community building
- Allows discovery of unique finds
- Re-circulates money back into our community (“multiplier effect”)
- Encourages improved customer service
Register Your Business
All businesses must register with the City of Jurupa Valley to obtain a Business Registration Certificate. Registering your business ensures your business is operating in the proper zone and is a permitted use. Businesses must also renew their business registration on an annual basis to remain compliant with the City of Jurupa Valley Municipal Code.
Businesses that are not physically located within the City limits may also be required to obtain a City of Jurupa Valley Business Registration Certificate if they are working within the City.

Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project
The Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project will create a four-lane underpass on Jurupa Road under Van Buren Blvd. Upon completion, this underpass will significantly improve safety and traffic circulation for its users.

 The Riverside County Office of Economic Development and Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center is providing up to $5,000 for businesses located in Riverside County. All existing businesses and new businesses that started on or after July 1, 2022 are eligible to apply.
