Welcome to the November Edition of Jurupa Valley's Economic Development Monthly Report.
The City of Jurupa Valley will be hosting a business workshop for the Jurupa Valley business community. This workshop will discuss crime prevention strategies for small business owners and offer effective approaches to minimize crime impacts. In addition, this workshop will discuss various grants, loan opportunities, and resources for the business community. Guest speakers for this event include members of the Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station, MicroEnterprise Collaborative, and other business-friendly associations.
This event will be hosted at City Hall Council Chambers on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024, from 10 AM - 12 PM.

Shops at Jurupa Valley Grand Openings
 Four additional businesses have recently opened at the Shops at Jurupa Valley, a new shopping center located on the corner of Mission Blvd. and Pyrite St. Mayor Guillermo Silva, Mayor Pro Tem Brian Berkson, and Councilmembers Leslie Altamirano and Chris Barajas were in attendance to support Jurupa Valley's newest businesses. Also in attendance were staff members from the offices of Supervisor Karen Spiegel, State Senator Richard Roth, and Assembly Member Sabrina Cervantes.
Ross Dress For Less soft opened on Friday, October 11th and conducted a grand opening ceremony on Sunday, October 13th. Hundreds of customers were present to visit the second Ross location in Jurupa Valley. Ross is located at 8125 Mission Blvd.
Wingstop officially opened to the public on Wednesday, October 15th. Wingstop also expanded to a second location in Jurupa Valley. Wingstop is one of the fastest growing eateries in the U.S., with over 2,000 locations worldwide and are currently projected to operate 7,000 locations by 2030. Wingstop is located at 4190 Pyrite St.
Jersey Mike's Subs opened their first location in Jurupa Valley. Jersey Mike's offers cold & hot subs, sides, and desserts. Jersey Mike's conducted a grand opening ceremony on October 16th and held a week-long fundraising event with proceeds going to Granite Hill Elementary School. Jersey Mike's is located at 4190 Pyrite St.
Starbucks soft opened on September 15th and also conducted a grand opening ceremony on October 16th. This event was open to the public and is the fourth Starbucks location in Jurupa Valley. Attendees were treated to pastries and light refreshments. Starbucks is located at 4134 Pyrite St.
Grand Opening - Five Below
 Five Below opened a second location in Jurupa Valley on Friday, October 25th. The new location is located at 7840 Limonite Ave., Suite 106. Five Below is the third location to open at the former K-Mart shopping center, which is undergoing a major renovation. Five Below is a high-growth value retailer that prices most of their items between $1-$5. Founded in 2002, Five Below now operates nearly 1,700 stores in 43 states.

Grand Opening - El Torito Meat Market & Tacos

El Torito Meat Market and Tacos officially expanded to a second location in Jurupa Valley on Sunday, November 3rd. Located at 9085 Mission Blvd., El Torito Meat Market is committed to providing flavorsome Mexican cuisine to the Glen Avon community. In addition, their new location offers prime wagyu carne asada and a wide assortment of beef, chicken and pork cuts.
El Torito Meat Market opened it's first location at 10851 Limonite Ave. in 1987. Meliton Cano officially took over operations on June 20, 2000 and has tremendous pride of their family-run business. For additional questions, including job opportunities, call 951.681.6794.
Mayor's Business Visitation Program - Magnolia Foods

Welcome to Magnolia Foods, a local manufacturer of corn and flour tortillas, wraps, sopes, chips, banuelos, and other baked goods. Magnolia Foods is located at 11058 Philadelphia Ave. and has been established since 2012. They operate a facility that is over 75,000 Sq. Ft. and retain a work force of over 200 employees. They also have a secondary location in Rialto. In total, both locations produce between 1.2 - 1.5 million pounds of product each week.
The City's Economic Development team was made aware of Magnolia Foods by California Manufacturing Technology Network (CMTC), a private non-profit organization dedicated to providing services and support to California manufacturers. Through Magnolia Foods partnership with CMTC, Magnolia Foods was granted a leadership training grant.
In the retail business, Magnolia Foods sells their products through their "El Comal" line. El Comal tortillas can be found at Ralph's, Cardenas, El Super, Grocery Outlet, Trader Joes, and Stater Bros. El Comal tortillas have a 25-30 day shelf life while their competitor's average almost 90 days. El Comal attributes their lower shelf life due to their freshness of their products and less preservatives.

Realty Investment Association of California Luncheon
 On Tuesday, October 29th, the City of Jurupa Valley co-hosted a luncheon with Realty Investment Association of California (RIAOC). The guestlist for this event was made up of brokers and real estate agents who own or lease real property in Jurupa Valley. Guests were provided presentations by City Manager Rod Butler, and Assistant City Managers Michael Flad and Joe Perez. These presentations consisted of development updates, policy initiatives, and long term vision for Jurupa Valley.

Shop Jurupa Valley Campaign
This is a reminder of the importance of shopping and dining in Jurupa Valley. Shopping and dining locally accomplishes the following:
- Reduces air pollution since automobiles travel fewer miles
- Supports existing and creates new jobs
- Stimulates our local economy
- Facilitates community building
- Allows discovery of unique finds
- Re-circulates money back into our community (“multiplier effect”)
- Encourages improved customer service
Register Your Business
All businesses must register with the City of Jurupa Valley to obtain a Business Registration Certificate. Registering your business ensures your business is operating in the proper zone and is a permitted use. Businesses must also renew their business registration on an annual basis to remain compliant with the City of Jurupa Valley Municipal Code.
Businesses that are not physically located within the City limits may also be required to obtain a City of Jurupa Valley Business Registration Certificate if they are working within the City.

Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 and co-sponsored by the Small Business Administration with the goal of encouraging holiday shoppers to shop locally and at small businesses. This holiday shopping event falls on the last Saturday of the month of November, which for this year will be Saturday, November 30.
The City of Jurupa will support the Small Business Saturday event by listing all businesses who will be having promotional giveaways or providing discounts. Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project
The Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project will create a four-lane underpass on Jurupa Road under Van Buren Blvd. Upon completion, this underpass will significantly improve safety and traffic circulation for its users.
