As we step into November, I want to take a moment to reflect on the spirit of gratitude and community that this month brings.

Veterans Parade and Celebration
One of the highlights this November is our annual Veterans Parade and Celebration, taking place on Saturday, November 9. This event is a heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. I invite all of you to join us in honoring our veterans as we march through the streets, showcasing our appreciation for their sacrifices. Read below for more information.

New Businesses in Our City
Additionally, I’m thrilled to announce the opening of new businesses that continue to enhance our community. One such addition is Ross Dress for Less, Wingstop, Jersey Mike's Subs, and Starbucks at the Shops of Jurupa Valley. These stores brings an exciting variety of shopping options to our residents and contributes to the vibrancy of our local economy. I encourage you to stop by and explore what they have to offer!

Native American Heritage Month
This month marks Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the vibrant cultures and contributions of Native American peoples in Jurupa Valley. I’m proud to showcase our partnership with the Gabrieleño/Kizh Nation. Learn more about this special collaboration by watching the video below.

SALUTE TO VETERANS PARADE & CELEBRATION
Join us on Saturday, November 9, for the annual Veterans Parade and Celebration in Jurupa Valley, a heartfelt tribute to honor all who have served in the armed forces. This free community event is a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors alike to come together in support of our veterans and show appreciation for their sacrifices.
Date: Saturday, November 9, 2024 Time: 9:00 a.m. Parade Route: Mission Boulevard, starting at the corner of Mission and Rubidoux Boulevard
Following the parade, attendees can enjoy various activities, live music, skydivers, food vendors, a car show, plane fly-over demonstrations, and community booths at Flabob Airport (4130 Mennes Ave.).Free parking is available at 5370 Mission Rock Way.
Street Closures: Please note that to ensure the safety of participants and spectators, several streets will be closed starting at 5 a.m. and will remain closed until noon. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and find alternate routes to navigate around the event.
Bring the entire family for a fun day honoring all who served. Come and be a part of this unforgettable day!

As we approach the November 5 election, it’s important for every resident to make their voice heard.
Jurupa Valley will have several ballot drop-off locations available for your convenience. These locations will ensure that you can easily submit your vote. Here’s where you can drop off your ballot:
- Jurupa Valley City Hall (8930 Limonite Avenue)
- Country Village Apartments (10250 Country Club Drive)
- Eddie Dee Smith Senior Center (5888 Mission Boulevard)
- Glen Avon Library Community Room (9244 Galena Street)

Celebrating Community Service Grant Recipients in Jurupa Valley
The City of Jurupa Valley is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024-2025 Community Service Grant (CSG) Program. This initiative aims to promote efficiency, accountability, and prosperity within our community by providing essential funding to nonprofit organizations dedicated to making a positive impact.
This year, 11 outstanding organizations have been selected to receive grants, each contributing significantly to the vibrancy of Jurupa Valley:
- Berrelleza Boys Foundation
- IE4 Teal Ovarian Cancer
- Jurupa Football and Cheer
- Jurupa Mountains Cultural Center
- Jurupa Pony Baseball
- Jurupa Valley Citizen's Patrol
- Machado Family Giving Inc.
- Parents at a Loss Foundation
- Queen of Hearts Therapeutic Riding
- Rotary & Lions Club
- Somos Uno Riverside
The funding from the CSG Program will strengthen existing initiatives, launch new programs, and expand outreach efforts, maximizing their impact on the community. Since its inception in 2019, the program has allocated $45,000 annually to support projects that enrich the lives of Jurupa Valley residents.

The City is thrilled to welcome several new businesses, including Su Casa Assisted Living, Ross, Wingstop, Starbucks, FiveBelow, and Jersey Mike’s.
The opening of these establishments is a significant milestone for our community, bringing job opportunities, expanding consumer choices, and fostering local growth. We’re excited about the positive impact these businesses will have!

Honoring Native American Heritage Month in Jurupa Valley
November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the vibrant cultures and contributions of Native American peoples. Jurupa Valley has deep roots in the Gabrieleño/Kizh Nation, whose families have long inhabited and enriched this area. Recently, the City approved the 918-acre Rio Vista Development, dedicating 500 acres for preservation to the Kizh Nation. This initiative aims to protect the Jurupa Oak and honor Kizh heritage. We are dedicated to fostering a collaborative relationship that respects and preserves their cultural history. Check out this short video showcasing our partnership: Watch Here.
Feeding America at Eddie Dee Smith Senior Center
Nov. 7 | 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The Eddie Dee Smith Senior Center is proud to partner with Feeding America to provide essential food resources to the community. The next food pantry event is scheduled for November 7, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. This program is designed to support individuals aged 18 and older, helping to alleviate food insecurity in our area.
Participation in the food pantry is by appointment only. To secure your spot, please call (951) 275-9975 the Tuesday prior to the distribution date. Remember, attendees must bring their own boxes or bags to transport their food items.
This initiative takes place on the first Thursday of each month, ensuring consistent access to nutritious food. To find more resources and activities for seniors, visit the Jurupa Area Recreation and Parks District website.

Christmas Toy Giveaway
Dec. 7 | 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Machado Family Giving Organization, in collaboration with the City, Toys for Tots, and the Lions Club, is excited to announce a Toy Giveaway on December 7, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Jurupa Valley Operation Center (5293 Mission Blvd.).
Families are encouraged to arrive early to receive a free toy and enjoy a special visit with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

Claim Your $35 Rebate!
The Jurupa Valley City Council has approved a $1 million Utility Rebate Program through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to support residents. The City has partnered with its three main water agencies to provide a $35 rebate directly on your water bill.
Applying is easy—just visit Jurupa Valley Utility Rate Payback Assistance Program and fill out the online application.
