City Manager's Report
I hope you are all finding time to relax and enjoy the summer. In this edition of the Jurupa Valley Insider, I am thrilled to share some of our City's latest accomplishments:
-
Successful Budget Approval Our City Council and departments have worked diligently to create a robust and balanced budget that demonstrates our commitment to fiscal responsibility and community development. This approved budget ensures we can continue providing high-quality services and amenities while investing in long-term projects that will benefit Jurupa Valley for years to come. You can view this year’s budget online at JurupaValley.org/Budget.
-
New Shopping and Dining Options In our efforts to foster economic growth, we are excited to announce the opening of several new eateries and shops, including an ALDI Store, Panda Express, Quick Quack Car Wash, and Pollo Campero. These new establishments will provide more shopping and dining choices, create job opportunities, and contribute to our local economy. Additionally, be sure to check out the Economic Development Department’s new Job Board webpage for all job opportunities in the City at JurupaValley.org/WorkforceJobBoard.
-
Progress in Residential Development The Sequanota Sound Wall, located along Canal Street, Opal Street, and the 60 Freeway, has been recently completed. This is a significant milestone in the Richmond American Homes Development, Sequanota Heights project.
This month also marks Jurupa Valley's 13th anniversary since our incorporation in 2011. It has been an amazing journey of growth and community spirit, and I am optimistic about the promising future ahead. Serving as City Manager for nearly five years has been a great honor.

New Job Board Connects Job Seekers with Local Opportunities

The Community Development Department has unveiled a new Workforce Job Board on the City's Economic Development webpage. This centralized platform aims to connect job seekers with local employment opportunities offered by various retailers. Additionally, local employers are encouraged to inform the Economic Development team about job openings to ensure inclusion on the board.

Update on Pacific Avenue Street Improvements
Phase One of the Pacific Avenue Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements Project is nearing completion, bringing significant enhancements to the road for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike.
Scheduled to open in July, the new bike lanes will stretch north on Pacific Avenue from 42nd Street, linking seamlessly with existing lanes on Sierra Avenue. This transformative project has been made possible through funding from Senate Bill 821, the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), HUD's CDBG funds, and Measure A.
The revitalization of Pacific Avenue includes extensive upgrades such as new curbs, gutters, sidewalks, controlled pedestrian crossings, parking spaces, bike lanes, and pavement rehabilitation.
Looking ahead, Phase Two will extend from 42nd Street to Limonite Avenue, with construction slated for Fall 2024. This extension will establish a continuous bike path from Limonite to Sierra Avenue, accompanied by further sidewalk and street improvements. These improvements will notably enhance safety for pedestrians, particularly students commuting to Rubidoux High School, as well as outdoor enthusiasts eager to explore new city trails.
Motorists are advised by the Public Works Department to exercise caution in and around work zones and to adhere to all temporary traffic control measures.

Be Prepared for Wildfire Season
Following a wet winter season, which has led to an abundance of vegetation growth, as dry conditions set in and fire fuels increase, taking proactive measures around your home will become paramount in safeguarding yourselves and our community.
Clearing debris and flammable materials from around the property, maintaining defensible spaces, and investing in fire-resistant materials are crucial steps to reduce the likelihood of a fire spreading. Additionally, having an evacuation plan and assembling an emergency kit is essential for swift and safe responses to wildfire threats.
