Welcome to the May Edition of Jurupa Valley's Economic Development Monthly Report.
Most recently, City Staff collaborated with Panorama Development and Jurupa Valley's City Council to conduct a groundbreaking ceremony for the City's first Target location, which will be located on Mission Blvd. & Pyrite St. Target is scheduled to open in 2025.
However, consumers will not have to wait until 2025 to shop and dine locally. Numerous businesses at this new shopping center such as In-N-Out Burger, Aldi, Chipotle, Quick Quack and Pollo Campero are scheduled to open in the coming weeks. For the latest information, follow the City's social media platforms to find out which retailers and eateries are open for business.

Shop Jurupa Valley Campaign
This is a reminder of the importance of shopping and dining in Jurupa Valley. Shopping and dining locally accomplishes the following:
- Reduces air pollution since automobiles travel fewer miles
- Supports existing and creates new jobs
- Stimulates our local economy
- Facilitates community building
- Allows discovery of unique finds
- Re-circulates money back into our community (“multiplier effect”)
- Encourages improved customer service
Grand Opening: Del Taco
Del Taco has officially opened its third location in the City. The newest Del Taco is located at 8258 Mission Blvd., near Mission Blvd. and Pyrite St.
The April 9 grand opening ceremony featured special guest attendees such as Mayor Guillermo Silva, Councilwoman Leslie Altamirano, Chynna Clarke, who is a representative for Assembly Member Sabrina Cervantes, Don Malloy, President of the Jurupa Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Ed Hackbarth, Co-founder of Del Taco.

Re-Grand Opening: Moni's Beauty Academy

Moni's Beauty Academy recently celebrated its re-grand opening on Saturday, April 27. All attendees were offered free makeup and hair services and raffled gift baskets.
Locally owned by Monica & Luis, their beauty academy offers makeup classes, lash extension training, hair services, and makeup services for private events. Their business is located at 8022 Limonite Ave., Suite 109.

Business Spotlight - Galleano Winery

This month, we turn our business spotlight to Galleano Winery, which is located at 4231 Wineville Rd.
Galleano Winery is a fifth-generation family-owned business since 1927. The Galleano Ranch and Winery has persevered through numerous hardships, such as the Great Depression, Prohibition, the Great Recession, and a global pandemic.
The Galleano family is honored that the Landmark Cantu-Galleano Ranch complex is listed on the California and National Register of Historical Places.

Today, Galleano Winery offers a wonderful assortment of wines, charcuterie boards, deli case meats and cheeses. They also allow patrons to bring their own food to enjoy.

Retail Theft Prevention Program
The City of Jurupa Valley was recently awarded over $2 million to combat organized theft in partnership with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The program is comprised of three main components:
- 60 Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPR)
- Vehicle & Retail Theft Task Forces
- Small Business Outreach Retail Theft Program
The Small Business Outreach Retail Theft Program will empower local businesses with the knowledge and resources needed to proactively safeguard against organized retail theft. This program will provide training, educational materials and foster collaboration with businesses, City Staff and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The goal of the program is to enhance public safety, confront the escalating issue of organized motor and retail theft and provide businesses with the tools they need to protect their establishments.

Inland Empire Tourism: The Regional Summit 2024
The City's Economic Development team recently attended the Inland Empire Tourism Summit. The event attracted over 250 attendees, which included travel industry suppliers and buyers, media, hotel owners and managers, airports, local cities, tribes and leaders from Federal and State agencies.
Exhibitors showcased tourist attractions such as museums, shopping centers, and other points of interest.

Register Your Business
All businesses must register with the City of Jurupa Valley to obtain a Business Registration Certificate. Registering your business ensures your business is operating in the proper zone and is a permitted use. Businesses must also renew their business registration on an annual basis to remain compliant with the City of Jurupa Valley Municipal Code.
Businesses that are not physically located within the City limits may also be required to obtain a City of Jurupa Valley Business Registration Certificate if they are working within the City.

Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project

The Jurupa Road Grade Separation Project will create a four-lane underpass on Jurupa Road under Van Buren Blvd. Upon completion, this underpass will significantly improve safety and traffic circulation for its users.
This month, construction crews will be making intersection improvements at Jurupa Rd. & Pedley Rd and will be installing storm drain facilities. In addition, construction crews will be completing a retaining wall along Jurupa Road between Connector Rd. and Van Buren Blvd. and work on the storm water pump station facility.

The Accion Opportunity Fund offers loans, educational resources and support networks in English and Spanish. They are a non-profit organization that provides personalized support to small business owners of all races and backgrounds.

The eBay Up & Running Grant program provides 50 eBay sellers with a $10,000 grant package, which provides cash, educational resources from eBay, and a $500 stipend for purchasing essential office technology from eBay Refurbished. Applications are due by June 7.

The Fund Her Future grant allocates $100k to support female entrepreneurs. All recipients will receive a year of complimentary business services including tax filing, bookkeeping, payroll, and business structure analysis. The deadline to apply is May 26.

The Freed Fellowship Grant program offers monthly grants to people of color and women-owned businesses. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

The State Small Business Credit Initiative Investing in America Small Business Opportunity Program is a $75 million competitive grant program aimed at providing technical assistance, including legal services and financial management guidance, to very small and underserved businesses.
