"Yule" be Glad You Wrote to Santa
The City of Irvine is excited to welcome back Santa’s magic mailbox this holiday season, opening on November 18. Parents and families are invited to participate in this festive tradition by dropping off letters to Santa at Heritage, Northwood, and Turtle Rock Community Centers.
The City will ensure each letter reaches Santa’s workshop, with responses ready for pick-up at the same location within a week.
Letters will be accepted through December 13.

A New Season of Art
The Irvine Fine Arts Center is pleased to announce its Fall Exhibitions, End as Beginning and For Me and You. The exhibitions open Saturday, November 16, at the Irvine Fine Arts Center, and include a free opening reception with the artists from 2 to 4 p.m.
The exhibitions will be on display through Saturday, January 25.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday. The Irvine Fine Arts Center is located in Heritage Community Park at 14321 Yale Ave. For more information, visit irvinefinearts.org or call 949-724-6880.

City of Irvine to Open First Universal Playground
On Thursday, November 14, at 1 p.m., the City of Irvine will celebrate the opening of its first universal playground at Sweet Shade Neighborhood Park.
An innovative and inclusive space that meets the needs of all residents regardless of ability, the playground is wheelchair accessible and includes multigenerational play components to support usage by those with disabilities, as well as their parents and caregivers.
The Sweet Shade Universal Playground opening event will feature speeches from elected officials as well as key partners and users of the new park. There will be lawn games, coloring, crafts, and a demonstration of Bankshot basketball by the Irvine Eagles Special Olympics Basketball Team.

City of Irvine to Honor United States Military Veterans at Special Ceremony
The City of Irvine invites the community to honor veterans and their families at a special Veterans Day Ceremony Monday, November 11, 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m., in the Formal Garden at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park.

Walnut Avenue Closure
Walnut Avenue south of Jeffrey Road will be completely closed Thursday, November 7, at 11 p.m. to Friday, November 8, at 5 a.m. for work on the Jeffrey Open Space Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge.
Local access to homes and businesses will not be impacted, but southbound I-5 ramps & Caltrans Park & Ride will be closed. This work is being done as part of the Jeffrey Open Space Trail Bridge project, which is expected to be complete by March 2026.

World Freedom Day: November 9 World Freedom Day is a federal holiday observed November 9. On this day in 1989, a momentous event in history took place when the Berlin Wall was abolished. The wall separated families and communities for almost three decades. Today, World Freedom Day marks the rise of democracy and freedom, and the fall of communism in Eastern Europe.
