California Housing Finance Agency Deputy Director of Multifamily Programs Steve Gallagher participated in a Grand Opening last week that looked slightly different than any he had been to before.
Maison’s Sierra provides 196 units in Lancaster, but instead of the typical apartment layout the development is made up of single-family dwellings.
Approved for a loan through CalHFA’s Mixed-Income Program (MIP) in 2024, Maison’s Sierra adds much-needed affordable housing in Los Angeles County at a mix of low incomes. This housing was built in collaboration with CDLAC, CTCAC, private partners including developer Ravello Holdings.
MIP launched in 2019 following the passage of the Building Homes and Jobs Act and, in that time, has provided financing to help construct 13,401 units of affordable housing at a mix of income levels. CalHFA is currently working on underwriting for developments that earned preliminary awards of 2026 MIP funding. When constructed, those developments are expected to add another 1,768 units to that total.
Thank you for supporting CalHFA and our mission to deliver reliable financing solutions to advance housing opportunities for Californians.
