The California Housing Finance Agency’s Director of Multifamily Programs Katherine McFadden spoke today that the Grand Opening of the 8181 Allison apartments, a 147-unit affordable housing development in La Mesa.
Approved for a loan through CalHFA’s Mixed-Income Program (MIP) in 2022, 8181 Allison adds much-needed affordable housing in San Diego County at a mix of low incomes. This housing was built in collaboration with CDLAC, CTCAC, the city of La Mesa and private partners including developer USA Properties.
MIP launched in 2019 following the passage of the Building Homes and Jobs Act and, in that time, has provided financing to help construct 11,563 units of affordable housing at a mix of income levels.
CalHFA is currently reviewing applications for the 2026 round of MIP funding, with announcement of preliminary awards coming soon.
