Groundbreaking for 831 Water St. |

Housing Finance Chief Kevin Brown was in Santa Cruz last month representing CalHFA at the groundbreaking event for 831 Water St. a 140-unit affordable housing development.
Financed in part by CalHFA’s Mixed-Income Program (MIP), the development will have a mix of apartments restricted between 30% and 80% of Area Median Income, including units for people with special needs, veterans and transitional aged youth.
MIP launched in 2019 following the passage of the Building Homes and Jobs Act and, in that time, has provided financing to help construct 11,563 units of affordable housing at a mix of income levels.
