On the same day late last month, CalHFA staff and Board Members participated in a Grand Opening in National City and a groundbreaking in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego for developments that will eventually provide 253 units of affordable housing in San Diego County.
The developments are financed in part by CalHFA’s Mixed-Income Program (MIP).
CalHFA Director of Multifamily Programs Stephanie McFadden spoke at the Grand Opening of Kimball Highlands apartments, which features 145 units for families that are restricted between 30% and 70% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Board Member Stephen Russell, who is also the Executive Director of the San Diego Housing Federation, represented CalHFA at the groundbreaking for St. Luke’s Affordable. Its 78 units of affordable housing, restricted between 30% and 70% of AMI, are being developed in part by St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
MIP launched in 2019 following the passage of the Building Homes and Jobs Act, and in that time has provided financing to help construct 10,688 units of affordable housing at a mix of income levels.
Thank you for supporting CalHFA and our mission to invest in diverse communities with financing programs that help more Californians have a place to call home.
