Ellen E. Martin Takes Key Leadership Role
CalHFA is pleased to have Ellen E. Martin step into the role of Director of Homeownership after Governor Gavin Newsom’s announcement of her appointment.
Martin has served as CalHFA’s Director of Business Development and Stakeholder Relations since 2021. In that role, she worked closely with CalHFA’s Single Family Lending division to help launch the Forgivable Equity Builder Loan program and the Accessory Dwelling Unit Grant program, both of which successfully allocated all their funds in 2022, and the new California Dream For All Shared Appreciation Loan Program. Additionally, she has built strong relationships with housing stakeholders both inside and outside of state government.
“Ellen has been an invaluable member of the team since she joined in the middle of the pandemic,” said Executive Director Tiena Johnson Hall. “I’m very much looking forward to seeing her leadership skills, talent for collaboration and attention to diversity and inclusion take our Single Family Lending division into the future.”
Prior to working at CalHFA, Martin held multiple positions at Economic and Planning Systems, Inc. from 2005 to 2021. She was Policy Analyst and Legislative Coordinator at United Domestic Workers of America from 2004 to 2005. Martin earned her master’s in Public Policy and Administration from California State University, Sacramento. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the California Association for Local Economic Development.
