In partnership with the City of Redondo Beach, the City of Hermosa Beach will host its first of four monthly outdoor sessions of the Housing Initiative Court on July 20. The Housing Initiative Court gives people experiencing homelessness the opportunity to avoid prosecution on nonviolent misdemeanor charges or municipal code violations in exchange for accepting judge-mandated services that can eventually lead to placement in housing.
During the court’s proceedings, access to the Clark Field batting cages and the Kelly basketball, pickleball and tennis courts will be temporarily unavailable to prevent interruptions of the court’s proceedings. Learn more about the Housing Initiative Court.

Saving Water Outdoors: Using a broom instead of a hose to clean your property not only saves a lot of water (over 100 gallons each time) but prevents pollution from reaching the storm drain system and, ultimately, the ocean.
Due to the drought, watering landscapes and lawns are limited to two days a week, between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m., for 15 minutes per watering cycle:
- Addresses ending with an odd number can water landscape and lawns on Tuesday and Saturday
- Addresses with an even number or no street number can water landscape and lawns on Wednesday and Sunday
