Join Us for the May 6th Goleta City Council Meeting
Topics Include: City Tile, Older Americans Month, Municipal Clerks Week, POP Grant Program, and CIP Budget Workshop
We hope you will join us for the Goleta City Council meeting this Tuesday, May 6th, at 5:30 p.m. (closed session begins at 4:30 p.m.) We encourage you to come in-person to Council Chambers, watch live, or participate via Zoom. Directions for how to do so can be found below.
Items on the agenda include:
- Dawn Christensen, Executive Assistant, will receive a City Tile recognizing her more than nine years of service as she retires from the City of Goleta and begins her next adventure.
- The City Council will proclaim May 2025 as Older Americans Month. This year’s theme is “Flip the Script on Aging.” The City joins the national tradition this month of celebrating the contributions of older Americans and re-dedicating our efforts to better serving their needs. - The Council will recognize May 4 – 10, 2025, as the 56th Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week. The City Clerk’s Office provides an important link between residents and local government. The City is fortunate to have a terrific City Clerk team who provide vital services to our community. Please join us in honoring this team for its exemplary dedication to our city. - The City Council will consider approving the Old Town Pride of Place (POP) Grant Program funding recommendations. On January 21, 2025, the Council approved the initiation of the Old Town POP Grant Program and approved the use of $120,000 for this grant program. The Economic Development and Revitalization Committee met on April 2, 2025, to review the 28 applications received during the four-week application period and provided funding recommendations to the Council. - The Council will discuss the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget Workshop for Fiscal Years 2025/26 and 2026/27. The CIP serves as a multi-year strategic planning document, guiding the identification, prioritization, financing, and scheduling of significant infrastructure and capital projects. Council will review and discus proposed updates to the Capital Improvement Program and budgets and discuss funding strategies. Council will also review the appropriations for FY 2025/26 and 2026/27 while considering total project cost over the next five years.
