Join Us for the December 7 Virtual Goleta City Council Meeting
Topics include County Encampment Resolution Funding Request and Public Hearing on Historic Preservation Ordinance
We hope you will join us for Goleta’s virtual City Council meeting held via Zoom on Tuesday, December 7, at 5:30 p.m. Many important items are being discussed and we encourage you to watch live and/or participate. Directions for how to do so can be found below. Items on the agenda include:
- City Council will discuss the Santa Barbara County Encampment Resolution Funding Request to the State of California Homeless Coordinating and Financing Council. Staff is recommending Council approve a letter of intent to join the County in requesting funding for homelessness. This funding request to the State’s Homeless Coordinating and Financing Council (HCFC) is intended to support local agencies’ ability to work together on the shared problem of homeless encampments. Joining the County in their funding request could help in the advancement of specific goals in Goleta’s Homelessness Strategic Plan, adopted by Council on April 20, 2021. - Council will hold a public hearing on adoption of the Historic Preservation and Archaeological and Tribal Cultural Ordinance. After years of preparation, the Goleta City Council will consider a Historic Preservation Ordinance at its December 7, 2021 meeting. The goal is to preserve and protect resources that, once lost, cannot be replaced or replicated. On November 8, the Planning Commission reviewed the ordinance and recommended adoption. Submit an email prior to noon on the Monday of the City Council meeting to cityclerkgroup@cityofgoleta.org and include the item you wish to speak on and provide your name, email, and phone number. When asking who wishes to speak, the City Clerk will ask that you utilize the “raise hand” feature, this lets the Clerk know you wish to speak and will call your name when public comment is taken.

Written Participation: If you would like your comment to be distributed to City Council, please submit via email by 12:00 p.m. on the Monday prior to the City Council meeting. Please submit your comment to the City Clerk at: cityclerkgroup@cityofgoleta.org. Your comment will be placed into the record and distributed appropriately.
