We hope you will join us for Goleta's Virtual City Council Meeting, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at 5:30 p.m. (Closed Session begins at 4:00 p.m.). The City Council will be considering a number of important items, including outdoor dining in Goleta among the COVID-19 pandemic. Items being discussed include:
- Council will consider a resolution to suspend zoning and development permit requirements for open-air spaces and parking lots on private property in order to allow restaurants and other uses as they re-open to expand dining and use areas outdoors and comply with the California Department of Health COVID-19 Industry Guidance for Dine-In Restaurants. Expanded outdoor dining and use areas are intended to allow Goleta restaurants and other specified uses to re-open safely, ensuring adequate pedestrian and vehicle circulation and patron safety while simultaneously meeting physical distancing standards. - Council will consider a resolution of necessity for the acquisition of a certain parcel required for the Hollister Avenue Bridge Project. The project entails the replacement of the existing Hollister Avenue Bridge over San Jose Creek Channel and the installation of channel capacity improvements and fish passage elements in the northern section of the San Jose Creek Channel. The project is located in Old Town Goleta. The project’s main objectives are to provide flood water capacity for 100-year storm events in the channel and accommodate fish passage. The Resolution of Necessity is required to keep the project on schedule. The full staff report can be found at https://tinyurl.com/y93thtlk.
- The City received a Santa Barbara County Civil Grand Jury report that determined the County of Santa Barbara, the eight incorporated cities, and the special districts within the County, are all ill-prepared for a cyber-attack as these attacks become more sophisticated. Council will hear staff’s recommended responses to the Grand Jury cyber-attack findings and will get an update on staff efforts to improve the City’s cyber security.
