City of Goleta sent this bulletin at 10/13/2017 11:34 AM PDT
On October 4 we emailed you to let you know
that the Hollister Class 1 Bikeway Project is entering the final phase of
construction and that night work would be occurring over the next couple of
weeks. Click
here to view the email.
Now that night work has begun, there have been some updates to the
schedule. The grinding has been extended past October 10 and will also occur
from approximately 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. on October 15, 16 and 19. The reason
is because the varying depths of grinding deemed to be necessary has caused the
process to go more slowly than expected. The construction company is scheduled to be
completed with all night work on October 20.
The
City is aware that during the night work some residents have felt vibrations.
These are due to the use of a vibratory roller which is necessary throughout
the paving operation to achieve the required compaction on the new asphalt
pavement which is being placed. This type of disturbance to nearby residents is
uncommon, and therefore was not originally anticipated.
We
are sorry for the inconvenience this night work has caused and appreciate your
patience as we work to complete the project. For more
