Visiting the Golden Gate Bridge over Easter weekend - Leave the car behind!
Golden Gate Bridge District sent this bulletin at 04/01/2015 10:00 AM PDTOver this Easter weekend (Saturday, April 4 & Sunday, April 5), if you'll be visiting the Golden Gate Bridge, leave the car behind and take transit, bike, or walk to the Bridge!
On holidays, traffic backups can be unbelievably long as visitors try to park at the Bridge, and parking lots on both ends of the Bridge (Visitor Pavilion at the south end and Vista Point at the north end) usually fill to capacity early. Vista Point may even be closed completely if traffic backups are substantial.
The Golden Gate Bridge District is advising visitors to avoid these parking lots and will be using changeable message signs around San Francisco to help spread the word.
For more information, including alternate parking options (near the Presidio, the Marina, and in Daly City) and transit options (from around San Francisco), visit www.goldengate.org or call 511. The Golden Gate Customer Service Center is open weekdays from 7am to 6pm.
