New Civic Center Operating Schedule
Beginning Friday, July 3, 2026, the City of Glendale will implement new operating hours for Civic Center facilities while continuing to provide services five days a week. In-person public counter service at City Hall (613 E. Broadway), the Municipal Services Building (633 E. Broadway), and the GWP Perkins Building (141 N. Glendale Ave.) will be available Monday through Thursday during regular business hours.
On Fridays, many City services will remain available online and by phone, allowing residents and businesses to continue conducting City business without visiting City Hall. Residents are encouraged to review department hours and available service options before arriving.
New Public Meeting Features Begin July 14
Beginning July 14, 2026, the City of Glendale will introduce new public meeting accessibility and participation features designed to make City Council meetings more accessible and convenient for the community. Residents will be able to attend meetings and provide live public comments remotely through Zoom Webinar or by telephone, expanding opportunities to participate in local government.
The City is also enhancing language access by providing Armenian-translated meeting agendas, bilingual participation instructions, and built-in webpage translation tools. A new Public Meeting Portal at GlendaleCA.gov/Agendas makes it easy to access meeting agendas, staff reports, livestream information, archived meeting videos, and resources for submitting public comments and requesting accommodations.
Water Quality Report Now Available Online
Glendale Water & Power's 2025 Water Quality Report is now available online. The annual report provides information about Glendale's drinking water and summarizes the results of water quality monitoring conducted throughout 2025.
GWP conducted more than 80,000 water quality tests and analyzed more than 375 regulated and unregulated constituents, with Glendale's drinking water continuing to meet or exceed all state and federal drinking water standards.
The report is available at GlendaleCA.gov/WaterQualityReports. Customers who prefer a printed copy may request one by emailing GWPConservation@GlendaleCA.gov or calling (855) 550-4497.
Montrose Celebrates Summer of Soccer

Glendale Sports Complex Solar Project Continues
Construction update: Work is expected to be completed by mid‑July 2026
During this time, visitors should plan ahead when arriving at the Sports Complex. Parking availability is reduced, and portions of the lot may be temporarily closed. Visitors are encouraged to allow extra time before games and practices.
Overflow parking is available, with signage directing visitors to additional spaces. All pedestrian walkways and ADA-accessible routes will remain open.
Preparing for Summer Heat Waves: Ways to Reduce Energy Use
As temperatures rise, Glendale Water & Power encourages residents to stay cool, conserve energy, and prepare for periods of high electricity demand. During Peak Alerts, small changes can help reduce strain on the power grid while lowering your energy use.
Energy-Saving Tips:
- Set your thermostat to 78° when you're home and 80° when you're away.
- Turn off unnecessary lights and unplug unused electronics.
- Delay using large appliances and charging electric vehicles until after 9:00 PM.
- Keep blinds and curtains closed during the hottest parts of the day.
- Use ceiling or portable fans to improve airflow.
- Replace air filters to help your cooling system run more efficiently.
Eligible residents can also participate in GWP's Home Energy & Water Upgrade Program, which provides a home efficiency assessment and no-cost energy- and water-saving improvements.

Upgrade to Heat Pumps with Rebates
Residents can now take advantage of rebates to reduce the cost of upgrading to electric heat pump technology. By combining incentives from Glendale Water & Power (GWP) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD), eligible customers may qualify for up to $8,000 in combined rebates on qualifying ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump systems.
GWP Rebates Available:
- $500 per ton (up to $2,500) when replacing an existing heat pump with a new ENERGY STAR® heat pump or mini-split system
- $1,000 per ton (up to $5,000) when replacing a gas furnace or gas/electric HVAC system with an all-electric ENERGY STAR® heat pump
Additional incentives may also be available from South Coast AQMD for eligible zero-emission space- and water-heating appliances.

Dive Into Summer at Pacific Community Pool
Pacific Community Pool is open year-round and offers a variety of programs for swimmers of all ages. Registration for summer group and private swim lessons is now available, and spaces fill quickly.

City Garages to Receive Technology Upgrade
Visitors to Downtown Glendale will soon enjoy a faster and more convenient parking experience as the City upgrades its parking garages with the new Flash parking system. The modernization project will replace aging equipment with advanced license plate recognition technology and updated payment options, including tap-to-pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
The new system is expected to reduce wait times at garage entrances and exits, improve reliability, and streamline parking for residents and visitors. Additional benefits include enhanced security, more accurate parking data, improved revenue management, and greater operational efficiency, helping support Downtown Glendale's businesses, restaurants, and entertainment destinations.
Scholl Canyon Landfill Rates Reduced
 Effective July 1, 2026, the Board of Directors of County Sanitation District No. 2 of Los Angeles County approved updated fee and charge rates for Scholl Canyon Landfill following a request from the City of Glendale. The new rate for municipal solid and inert waste is $85.91 per ton, reflecting a 10% decrease from the previous rate.
As the City continues working toward the closure of Scholl Canyon Landfill as soon as possible, the updated rates will support ongoing operations during the transition while providing cost savings for customers.

Glendale Refuse Container Guidelines for Single-Family and 2-4 Units
To help keep Glendale clean and ensure efficient collection service, residents are encouraged to follow these guidelines on their scheduled collection day:
- Place carts along the street curb in front of your property or along the alley in the rear, depending on your collection route.
- Keep containers at least three feet away from parked vehicles and positioned on either side of the driveway.
- Leave at least one foot of space between each cart.
- Position carts so the arrow on the lid faces the street.
- Do not place containers out before 3:00 PM on the day before collection.
- Return empty containers from the curb by 8:00 PM on collection day.
Following these simple steps helps maintain efficient collection service and keeps Glendale looking its best.

Brand Summer Concerts Series Returns

Support for Former JPL Employees
The Verdugo Jobs Center (VJC) has received funding to assist individuals affected by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) layoffs that began in October 2025. Through these resources, eligible workers can access a variety of workforce services designed to support career transitions and long-term employment.
Available services include paid occupational skills training, career counseling, job search assistance, supportive services, and other workforce development resources. Whether you're looking to build new skills, transition to a different industry, or re-enter the workforce, VJC offers customized support for professionals at all experience levels.

Cleaning out your home this summer? When throwing out bulky items, residents should responsibly dispose of them by following these key guidelines:

Apartments & Condos (5+ Units) and Businesses must contact their designated franchise haulers for a pickup through GlendaleRecycles.com/Haulers.

Placement: Residents should never leave bulky items out on the curb until pickup is confirmed. Items should always be removed from private property.

Disclaimers: Furniture with glass and mattresses are only accepted if safely wrapped. Large quantities of glass, such as multiple windows, and lumber and construction materials are not eligible for pickup.

Wading Pools
Wading pools are shallow pools, 1 to 2 feet deep, designed for children 8 years and younger. Four wading pools throughout Glendale are open for free drop-in use on a rotating schedule from June 15 through August 16.
Looking for a fun place to host a birthday party or small gathering? Wading pools are available to rent through September, subject to staff and facility availability. Rental rates are $118 for the first hour of swimming and $29 for each additional hour. Designated picnic tables near the wading pool may also be reserved for $51 during your rental.
