Enhancing La Crescenta Avenue: Road Resurfacing Begins in April 2026
Work on the La Crescenta Avenue Rehabilitation Project is set to resume in April 2026.
The City’s contractor will begin resurfacing at La Crescenta Avenue and North Verdugo Road. Work will proceed in segments along the corridor. This phase includes grinding the existing pavement, applying a new asphalt leveling layer, and placing the final paving surface.
This process is time-intensive and critical to achieving a smooth roadway surface that improves drivability and the pedestrian experience by addressing tripping hazards and potholes throughout the corridor.
Residents should anticipate temporary detours and traffic control measures during construction. Signage will be in place to guide drivers and maintain safety near schools, businesses, and neighborhoods.
N. Verdugo Road Improvements Project Survey
Help shape the future of the N. Verdugo Road Improvements Project by taking the survey.
The project will include pavement rehabilitation; transit improvements such as bus shelters, benches, and trash receptacles; reconstruction of curbs, gutters, driveways, and sidewalks; ADA curb ramps; enhanced pedestrian crossings; traffic calming measures such as curb extensions; traffic signal upgrades; installation of landscaping and street trees; and new traffic signing and striping, including creative crosswalks.
The City is also seeking input on additional elements, including traffic safety improvements such as new sidewalks and bike lanes, where feasible.
The project is funded through the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program, the State Transportation Block Grant (STBG), and Measure R.
The last day to take the survey is April 30, 2026.

Why Metro is asking for your input In 2024, voters approved Measure G. This measure will change how Los Angeles County government works. It will create an elected County Executive in 2028 and increase the number of County Supervisors from five to nine in 2032.
Why this matters to you The Metro Board makes important decisions about transportation across Los Angeles County. This includes bus and rail service, safety programs, major construction projects, and long-term planning. The Board also helps decide how billions of dollars are invested to improve how people travel every day. Because Metro’s work affects so many parts of daily life, it is important that the Metro Board reflects the people it serves.
