Know the Difference: E-Motors
The Glendale Police Department has launched a new webpage to help residents understand the differences between e-motorcycles, e-bikes, and e-scooters under California law. The page includes a public service announcement explaining where each device may be legally operated, along with a Quick Reference Guide outlining rules, restrictions, and potential penalties.
Resources and video transcripts are available in English, Armenian, Spanish, and Korean to support accessibility for the community.

N. Verdugo Road Improvements Project Community Meeting
Help shape the future of the N. Verdugo Road Improvements Project by attending an in-person community meeting on Wednesday, March 18. This meeting marks the first step in planning a comprehensive set of upgrades along the north–south corridor, with construction anticipated in 2027.
The Verdugo Road Improvements Project will include pavement rehabilitation; transit improvements such as bus shelters, benches, and trash receptacles; reconstruction of curb and gutters, driveways, and sidewalks; ADA curb ramps; enhanced pedestrian crossings; traffic calming measures such as curb extensions; traffic signal upgrades; installation of landscaping and street trees; and new traffic signing and striping, including creative crosswalks. We are seeking input on additional elements, including traffic safety improvements such as new sidewalks and bike lanes, where feasible.
The project is funded through the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program, the State Transportation Block Grant (STBG), and Measure R.

Enhancing La Crescenta Avenue: Construction Completion Extended to June 2026
The La Crescenta Avenue Rehabilitation Project has made significant progress in recent months. Major safety improvements have been implemented, including intersection realignment and enhanced pedestrian accessibility. The contractor has also completed the installation of bio-retention facilities and critical infrastructure upgrades, including traffic signal and fiber-optic systems, as well as the upsizing of the existing sewer mainline.
While most improvements are complete, several final elements remain. Roadway resurfacing, striping, and decorative crosswalks are currently scheduled for completion by June 2026, barring unforeseen circumstances.
The revised schedule reflects utility relocation work required by GWP Electric, Charter, and AT&T related to the Twelve Oaks development site at La Crescenta Avenue and Sycamore Avenue. The City appreciates the community’s continued patience as crews complete the remaining work.
Tentative Construction Schedule:
- April 2026: Roadway resurfacing
- May 2026: Roadway striping and utility adjustments
- June 2026: Installation of decorative crosswalks and reflective pavement on Paloma Avenue

2nd Annual Women's Fire Academy
The Glendale Fire Department and Pasadena Fire Department will host the Second Annual Women’s Fire Academy on April 11–12. This two-day, hands-on program introduces women to careers in firefighting and emergency medical services.
Participants will receive practical training in hose handling, ladder operations, teamwork drills, and other key skills while learning about the recruitment process from experienced firefighters and mentors.

Parks Facilities Closed for Renovation
Maple Park Gym Ceiling Project
The project is currently in the contracting phase, with construction scheduled from January 26 through March 31, 2026. During this time, the gym will be closed to all activities to allow the work to be completed safely and efficiently. Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
Babe Herman Restroom Renovation
Construction is currently underway to rehabilitate the restroom building north of Babe Herman Little League Field and improve accessibility. The restroom will remain closed through March 30, 2026, during the project.
To accommodate visitors, two portable restrooms will be available on-site during this time.
Please note: A portion of the adjacent parking lot will also be under construction. Visitors are encouraged to park in Lot 34 or use available street parking.
Commercial Energy and Water Saving Rebates
Upgrading your business just became more affordable. Glendale Water & Power has launched its enhanced Commercial Energy and Water Savings Rebates Program, offering incentives for high-efficiency equipment.
The program helps businesses reduce energy and water use while lowering upfront equipment costs through cash rebates issued by check. Eligible upgrades include heat pump water heaters and HVAC systems, reach-in commercial refrigerators and freezers, electric cooktops and ovens, and water-saving fixtures.
Businesses interested in improving efficiency and reducing operating costs are encouraged to explore available rebate options.

Dirty Drugs Film Screening
The Glendale Police Department hosted a screening of Dirty Drugs: The Crisis of Addiction and Overdose on February 26. The event included a panel discussion addressing the challenges individuals and families face with substance-use disorder while highlighting available recovery resources.

Year-Round Wildfire Mitigation
Grazing goats have returned to Glendale as part of the City’s expanded, year-round wildfire mitigation strategy. For one week beginning February 11, a herd from California Grazing cleared approximately 20 acres of dry brush in Verdugo Park following months of heavy rainfall that accelerated vegetation growth.
With updated CAL FIRE maps expanding high-risk wildfire zones to nearly 15,000 acres, goat grazing continues to play an important role in the Glendale Fire Department’s Vegetation Management Program, alongside inspections, mechanized clearance, and community partnerships aimed at reducing wildfire risk.
New Permit Services Center Hours
On February 9, the Permit Services Center implemented new public counter hours to provide customers with in-person permit support two afternoons each week.
Customers can receive permit assistance from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Permit Services Center will continue operating from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM Monday through Thursday and will remain closed on Fridays.

Real-Time Construction Alerts on Waze and Google Maps
Glendale Public Works has expanded how it shares construction information by integrating real-time updates into Waze and Google Maps. When residents use these apps, they can see lane closures, detours, and road work before reaching a work zone, helping them better anticipate roadway impacts and plan their travel.
Since launching this effort, construction alerts have reached more than 47,000 road users, with over 6,000 commuters sharing positive feedback.

Verdugo Mountains 10K Trail Run & Hike
Get ready for an unforgettable adventure on Sunday, May 3, 2026. The Verdugo Mountains 10K Trail Run & Hike welcomes runners and hikers of all levels to tackle a 6.2-mile scenic trail through the heart of the Verdugo Mountains.
The trail begins at Brand Park and climbs to one of the highest points in the range, offering sweeping views of the Los Angeles Basin, San Fernando Valley, and Pacific Ocean before returning to the finish line.
Hosted by the City of Glendale’s Community Services & Parks Department, this annual event supports the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation and celebrates fitness, nature, and community.

In celebration of Global Recycling Day, residents are encouraged to refresh their recycling knowledge with this simple guide:

Organics: Food scraps, food-soiled paper products, and yard trimmings belong in the organics bin. Residents should place food scraps in a clear bag before disposing of them.

Recycling: Aluminum cans and foil, clean paper and cardboard, glass, metal, and plastic containers, jugs, and bottles belong in the recycling bin.

Trash: All other waste, excluding hazardous materials, should be placed in the trash bin.

Maple Inclusive Play Day
Maple Inclusive Play Day (MIP Day) is a monthly community gathering that brings families together in a welcoming space where children of all abilities can play, connect, and thrive.

Cesar Chavez Commemorative Event
The City of Glendale will host the annual César Chávez Commemorative Event at the Pacific Community Center to honor the life and work of farmworker, civil rights activist, and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient César Chávez.
This community celebration will feature live performances, community booths, an opportunity drawing, and free tacos while supplies last in a family-friendly setting.

Victorian Easter Egg Hunt
The Glendale Historical Society will host an outdoor Easter celebration at the Doctors' House Museum in Brand Park. The afternoon begins with an Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn and includes traditional Victorian games, children’s storytime, freshly baked cookies, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Guests can also enjoy a puppet show presented by Rene’s Marionettes at the gazebo. Families are encouraged to attend in their Easter best and bring baskets for the egg hunt. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn.
Space is limited. Registration is available online only for $15 per person, or $10 for TGHS members, plus processing fees. Admission is free for children under one year old. Check-in begins at 1:00 PM.

Pacific Community Pool is Heated and Open Year-Round!

Pacific Community Pool is open year-round and maintained at a comfortable 83° F for swimmers of all ages. The pool offers a variety of programs, including swim lessons, swim team, water polo, and private pool rentals.

Private pool rentals are available year-round, while wading pool rentals are offered during the summer season. Wading pool reservations are available during non-operational hours from June 13 through August 18, 2026, with weekend reservations extended through September 27.

Spring Cleaning & Bulky Items: Common Bulky Item Pickup Mistakes to Avoid
Spring cleaning is an ideal opportunity for residents to dispose of bulky items responsibly. To ensure a smooth pickup process, follow key guidelines and be aware of common mistakes when scheduling bulky-item collection.
- Mattresses and box springs will only be accepted if they are securely enclosed in mattress bags or properly wrapped for safety.
- Glass furniture, such as glass cabinets, is accepted only when safely wrapped. However, large quantities of glass, such as glass windows, are not eligible for pickup.
- All items to be collected must be completely removed from private property.
- Lumber and construction materials are not accepted.
- Only items listed on the webpage will be picked up.

Ride to Live Motorcycle Training
The Glendale Police Department’s Ride to Live Motorcycle Safety Training Program is a free, one-day course taught by Glendale motor officers. The program provides eight hours of hands-on instruction focused on safe riding techniques, emergency braking, and precision maneuvering.
While the February, March, and April sessions are full, riders can still register for the May 31 and June 14 sessions.

Upcoming Clothing Swap and Repair Cafe
Stop by the Sustainability Office’s one-stop shop to refresh your wardrobe and give broken items a second life. This event offers residents the opportunity to swap clothing and repair household items while helping reduce waste.
Previous events have successfully diverted approximately 2,600 pounds of waste from landfills.

P2 Soccer Training Summer Camp at Skyline Pitch
Experience the P2 Soccer Camp before summer at Skyline Pitch LA. This free two-hour Soccer Camp Open House is designed for youth ages 5 to 14 and offers families an opportunity to preview the summer camp experience.
Participants will take part in skill-based technical training, small-sided match play, speed and agility activities, and fun competitive games. Families will also have the chance to meet the coaches and learn more about the program.
