First, we’re excited to announce that the Glendale Sports Complex is going solar! This project highlights our commitment to environmental stewardship. We invite you to join us on October 3 at Sparr Heights Community Center to learn more about how this initiative will benefit our community.
Continuing our dedication to enrich Glendale’s cultural landscape, we encourage you to visit Projecting L.A. 2024 at ReflectSpace in the Glendale Central Library. This free exhibit features a diverse collection of photojournalism and street photography, offering an intimate glimpse into the stories that define Los Angeles. It’s a great way to experience the rich diversity of our city.
Don’t miss the Annual Fall Festival on October 28 at Pacific Community Center! This family-friendly event promises something for everyone, from pumpkin picking to live entertainment, food vendors, and more. Bring your loved ones and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
We’re also hosting a special City Hall in Your Neighborhood on October 15 at 6:00 PM at Joe Bridges Clubhouse in Glenoaks Canyon. This meeting offers a unique chance to learn about City projects, meet City officials, and connect with Council and staff. We look forward to seeing you there!

Your Input Needed: Funding Social Services 💼

Tri-State Senior Health and Wellness Day 🩺
Tri-State medical will be visiting the Adult Recreation Center to share information about their Medicare supplemental insurance plans. Plans come with no-cost or low-cost benefits such as podiatry, optometry and other services. Be sure to pick up a free food bag while supplies last. They will also be offering free blood pressure and glucose screenings on site.

Sports Complex is going Solar!✨
Join Glendale Water and Power (GWP) for a special community meeting to learn all about the new solar project! The city is embracing clean energy technologies with an initiative that will enhance GWP’s clean energy portfolio, with a parking lot solar canopy at the Sports Complex that is expected to generate over 2 million kWh of clean solar energy annually for residents!

ReflectSpace opens Projecting L.A. 2024 📷

Glendale Library, Arts & Culture and ReflectSpace are proud to present Projecting L.A. 2024, a unique photographic project that presents an intimate and kaleidoscopic view of Los Angeles, its diverse communities, and unwieldy streets. This project is co-curated by Julia Dean, Daniel Sackheim, and Ara & Anahid Oshagan.

Creatures of the Night Hike 🏞️
Come along with Community Parks and Services as they trek through the park and explore the sounds of the night. What animals are out and about during these hours? What are they doing up so late? Who made that sound and what does it mean? Participants will hike on moderately difficult trails with stops along the way for discussion, stories, and activities. This program is recommended for ages 5 and older.

Glendale Outdoors! (Go!) Community Program
With a different nature theme each month, this free family nature program is all about getting outdoors and exploring! Join Community Services and Parks for an interpretive hike, a nature craft, and a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center. Water, snacks, and complimentary bus transportation will be available from the Pacific Park Community Center, leaving at 8:30 AM and returning at 12:30 PM.
Everyone is encouraged to ride the bus, but you may choose to meet us at the park. Funding for the bus is provided by Metro, a partner in our community.

🎃 Parent’s Night Out 🎃

Free Food Distribution for Qualifying Seniors
Community Services & Parks has partnered with Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to become a food pick-up site at the Adult Recreation Center’s southeast corner (parallel to Louise Street). Nutritious food options include fruits, juices, vegetables, milk, cheese, grains, proteins, and more. The food box is designed to supplement dietary intake of calcium, potassium, and vitamins seniors need to stay healthy. Age and income eligibility requirements apply.

Citrus Crossing Grand Opening 🏢
Citrus Crossing, a 127-unit affordable senior housing project, celebrated its grand opening on September 17th, marking yet another milestone in the many remarkable affordable housing initiatives led by our Housing Division. Glendale Tech Week 2024 was a success, showcasing innovation and collaboration within the tech community. Electric Bicycle Rebate 🚲
GWP offers rebates to residents purchasing new electric bicycles, defined by the California DMV as having operable pedals and an electric motor under 750 watts.

Gas Powered Leaf blowers are banned in Glendale
Did you know that gas-powered landscaping equipment produces more air pollution per hour than most gas cars? Last year, City Council passed a new law prohibiting the use of gas-powered leaf blowers to help improve air quality, noise pollution, and community health.

Wading Pools 🌊
Wading pools are small 1-2 ft. deep pools designed for children 8 years and under. There are 4 wading pools throughout the city that will open for drop-by use beginning June 10 on a rotating basis. You can reserve a wading pool for your private party, too! Reserve wading pool rentals now from June through September.

Did you know the Community Services and Parks department allows customers to book picnic permits online? Once your deposit is paid, a customer service representative will reach out to process your full payment and confirm the reservation. The deposit will be applied towards your picnic fees at the time of confirmation.
