A Message from the City Manager, Roubik Golanian
The month of February is filled with celebrations of Black History Month, Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, and Presidents' Day, collectively honoring cultural identity and heritage.
Black History Month is a dedicated time to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and rich history of African Americans.
Chinese New Year symbolizes renewal, welcoming of good fortune, and a time to celebrate with family and friends.
Valentine's Day, a day for expressing love and affection.
Presidents' Day, a time to reflect on the leadership and contributions of past presidents, Washington and Lincoln.
While these observances have distinct origins, they all play a role in fostering cultural diversity. They serve as reminders for us to appreciate and understand the varied traditions, histories, and expressions of love and unity that enrich our diverse community.
At City Hall, departments are busy at work from fighting crime through forming proactive partnerships with the Burglary Taskforce, and so much more!
We're also gearing up for the municipal election taking place on March 5th with multilingual outreach to make sure everyone has an opportunity to cast their vote.
The City Council will be leaving City Hall and going out into the community with the popular "Council in your Neighborhood" program. On February 20, they will join neighbors at Brand Library Studios to learn about issues that are top of mind.
Lastly, one of my goals has been to increase communication with the community at large and as such, my weekly reports highlighting City activities can now be found on the City's website. This is your opportunity to learn about City Council actions, relevant news, and various activities taking place at and around City Hall on a weekly basis.
