Wading Pools
Wading Pools are small 1-2 feet deep pools designed for children 8 years and under. There are 5 wading pools throughout the city that will open for drop-by use on June 12 on a rotating basis. You can reserve a wading pool for your private party, too! We are now taking reservations for wading pool rentals from June through September, depending on staff and facility availability. Wading pools can be rented for your private birthday party or small gathering. Rates are $100 for the first hour of swimming, and $25 for every additional hour of swimming. You can also pay $40 to secure the designated tables close to the wading pool during your swim time. Please call (818) 937-7433 for a reservation.

The Glendale Polo Bears water polo team and the Junior Lifeguard Academy will also be offered this summer along with group and private rentals.

Glendale Cruise Night
In the Heart of Glendale on Brand Blvd. July 15, 2023 5:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
The 28th Annual Cruise Night Event will be held on Saturday, July 15 from 5:30 – 10:30 p.m. Join us in the heart of Glendale on Brand Blvd. to see hundreds of classic and import/modified cars, while listening to the live performances on the main stage. The evening includes vendor booths, giveaways, activities for kids, and FUN! Restaurants in the area will all be open to satisfy your hunger during the event. Bicycle Transportation Plan Survey
Help the us shape the future of Glendale! The city's Community Development department recently launched a year-long update to the 2012 Bicycle Transportation Plan (BTP) to create a 20-year measurable blueprint for making biking safer, easier, and more attractive. Participate in their short survey by June 30 to ensure community input helps shape the Plan. The survey is available online in English, Armenian, Spanish, and Korean.
Additionally, join their team for a community pop-up event on June 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., to learn more about the project and share feedback in person. The Glendale Historical Society (TGHS) presents Architecture as Art
Doctors House Museum at Brand Park 1601 W. Mountain St., Glendale, CA 91201 June 4, 2023 - November 26, 2023
Participate in a tour of the Doctors House and view the new exhibit, “Architecture as Art,” featuring artists’ visual interpretations of significant historic structures throughout the city of Glendale. The exhibit will run from June 4, 2023 through November 26, 2023.
The exhibit features original artwork of historic and architecturally significant Glendale buildings, be they homes, commercial/institutional or other built landmarks, still standing or demolished.
At the close of the exhibit, TGHS will sell the donated artwork, with proceeds to support the Museum and its collections.

Combat-Vet Pickleball

On Sunday, June 11, 2023, in collaboration with the Wounded Warriors Project, volunteers from Glendale Pickleball will conduct a demonstration of the sport to interested individuals with military service. The goal is to introduce the sport and provide a means for combat veterans to come together and have something new they can share, Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in the country. Volunteers will introduce the sport, provide demonstrations, and show participants how to find Pickleball locations closer to their homes.

Teen Night Out

Teen Night Out (TNO) occurs every Friday night from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Pacific Community Center. Teen Night Out provides a safe place for teens to hang out and enjoy activities like video games, ping pong, use of a computer lab, and karaoke. On some dates, a workshop is conducted starting at 6:00 p.m. as part of Teen Night Out. Light refreshments will be served. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Are you interested in being a Trail Safety Patrol volunteer for the City of Glendale?
As a Trail Safety Patrol (TSP) volunteer, you have a unique opportunity to assist the City of Glendale by providing public assistance and resource protection. Your influence on park visitors will enhance their experience and safety while in our parks.
TSP volunteers must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check and City-mandated trail safety training, be in good health, and devote a minimum of four hours per month. If interested, please send an email to trails@glendaleca.gov.

GLENDALE OUTDOORS! (GO!) COMMUNITY PROGRAM

Spend some quality family time enjoying the great outdoors once a month with our naturalists! We invite the public to join us in exploring the Stone Barn Nature Center, an interpretive hike, and a nature-themed craft. Use scientific equipment, explore your local habitat in a new way, and make wild discoveries alongside your family for lasting memories in this unique program!
A FREE bus leaves from Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Ave. at 8:30 a.m. and returns at 12:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to ride the bus, but you may choose to meet us at the park.
Important information:
- If riding the bus with us (free), please arrive at Pacific Community Center by 8:00 a.m. to check in with staff. The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. and return from Deukmejian at 12:30 p.m.
- If meeting us at the park, please meet us at Deukmejian Wilderness Park by 8:45 a.m.
- Appropriate for children ages 5 to 12.
- Adult supervision is required! One adult for every three children 17 and under is required.
- Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and a hat or cap.

Virtual Presentations for Seniors
Alzheimer's Awareness June 14, 2023 (Lost Memories Session 2) 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
CSP, in collaboration with Alzheimer’s Los Angeles, will host a virtual presentation on Alzheimer’s and healthy brain habits. The presentation will inform participants about the causes, symptoms, treatments and life after an Alzheimer's diagnosis.

Fitness Classes for Seniors
Exercise and fitness classes for seniors are offered virtually and in person at three locations: Adult Recreation Center, Pacific Community Center, and Sparr Heights Community Center. Classes include aerobics, slow stretch, Zumba, line dancing, and muscle toning.

Senior Mixer

If you like to salsa, cha-cha, rumba, waltz or boogie, this is the place to be. This senior mixer takes place every other Friday and is a great opportunity to socialize with fellow seniors in the greater Glendale community, make new acquaintances, and have a good time. A suggested donation of $3.00 is collected at the entrance to the mixer. This is a gratuity that is given to the DJ at the end of each event.

Stone Barn Nature Center

Please stop by during our open hours of operation to tour the Stone Barn Nature Center and learn about the history of the Deukmejian Wilderness Park and the Barn. Entry is free!
The Stone Barn was originally built between 1905-1915, by the Le Mesnager family. Throughout the years, it has served as a winery, stables, residence, and now a nature center. The roof was burned in the 1933 wildfire, but was rebuilt to the curved structure you see today.
Visit the Stone Barn to learn about the local flora & fauna, the history of the land, and the winery that the Le Mesnager family operated. We will be hosting enriching workshops, day camps, and field trips for local schools.

When Should I Request Outreach for Homeless Services?
Did you see someone experiencing homelessness who needs help? Notice a homeless neighbor who seems to be struggling with their physical and/or mental health? Then you can help them by sending an outreach request and alert us as to any specific concerns you may have regarding the person’s well-being. As outreach capacity is limited, requests for those with more serious medical and/or mental health needs may be prioritized.

Employment Incentive Program (EIP)
GYA is accepting applications for the Employment Incentive Program. Youth must be between the ages of 18-24 AND NOT attending school; youth enrolled in non-credit courses qualify. Program pays for 200 hours of work experience as an incentive for businesses to hire our youth. The goal of the program is to transition youth to permanent employment at the completion of the program. GYA also provides intense career counseling as well as training and additional services based on their individual needs.
