Do you have leftover candy and flowers from Valentine’s Day? Then show your organics recycling container some love by recycling leftover candy and flowers. Remember to first bag candy, food scraps, and food-soiled paper before placing it in your green cart or bin. Flowers and yard trimmings should be placed loose in your green cart or bin. For more: Recycler's Almanac.
You may know how to dispose of your toxic ex, but do you know how to dispose of hazardous waste?
Common household items like bleach, batteries, needles medications, gas cylinders (propane tanks), insect repellent and paint are hazardous and cannot be placed in the trash. These materials can injure collection workers and harm the environment! Hazardous waste can be dropped off for free at the Environmental Management Center, open every Wednesday and 2nd Saturday of every month.
