Art Exhibit: "Light Up the Earth"
Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station 1020 E. Palmer Ave., Glendale, CA 91205 Through January 19, 2023
The Adams Hill Neighborhood Association, in coordination with the Community Services & Parks Department, is sponsoring a holiday exhibit at the landmark Richfield Gas Station in Adams Square Mini Park. The exhibit, called “Light Up the Earth” was installed by artist Cathy Hrenda (local resident of Adams Hill neighborhood), and will be on display until January 19, 2022. The installation was inspired by the symbolic and celebratory use of light and its cultural significance to so many people across the planet. Cathy Hrenda states, “the images on each lantern celebrate the light we, members of the human race, bring to the dark nights of winter and we also want to celebrate our collective wish to focus on healing our planet.” As in past years, residents of the Adams Hill neighborhood were called on to participate in the preparation of this display, and about 40 community members (ranging from toddlers to seniors) worked on the installation. The entire display was created mostly from trashed cardboard, paper and plastic containers. This seasonal art exhibit can be viewed at the Adams Square Mini Park located at 1020 E. Palmer Ave., Glendale, CA 91205.
