Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break Camps
We are proud to offer our annual Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break Day Camps to campers ages 6 - 14. The camps will provide an opportunity for campers to play, discover, learn, and interact, all while abiding by L.A. County Guidelines. Campers will engage in food activities, science experiments, arts & crafts, individual sports, dance, and more! Basketball specialty camps will also be available during Winter Break. Homeless Action Plan Workshops
The City of Glendale invites you to attend our upcoming strategic planning sessions to help inform our Homelessness Action Plan!
Our goal is to engage and empower the larger Glendale community to help inform comprehensive solutions that prevent and reduce homelessness by addressing housing challenges and providing targeted services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
The Glendale Homelessness Action Plan will:
- Articulate clear vision, mission, and values citywide and across city departments;
- Establish measurable goals, strategies and an actionable timeline;
- Identify strengths, challenges, opportunities and threats to our collective work; and
- Address equity issues by ensuring that programs and services are developed and provided through an equity lens
Below is the remaining meeting schedule and an overview of topics to be discussed at each meeting. Please note that to accommodate as many stakeholders as possible, the meetings are provided in-person and virtually (online) and you're invited and encouraged to attend all meetings:

Parent's Night / Day Out
If you’re a parent looking for a night out in the city, we have you covered. Register and drop off the kiddos for a night (or day) of fun activities, sports, friends, food and a movie! The fee is $15.00 per child, ages 5 to 14 years old. Participants in Parent's Night Out are encouraged to bring pajamas, a blanket and a pillow. Space is limited! Notice of Availability 2023–2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds
The City of Glendale will begin accepting applications for eligible projects to receive funding for FY 2023-2024 for CDBG Public Social Services and Capital Improvement Projects beginning November 18, 2022. Application packets will be posted on the City’s website at www.glendaleca.gov/CDBG on November 16, 2022 and are due on/by Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 5:00 pm. The City of Glendale anticipates allocating an estimated $1,000,000 to eligible projects.

Fiesta de las Luminarias
Casa Adobe de San Rafael 1330 Dorothy Dr., Glendale, CA 91202 December 10, 2022 3:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.
Glendale Beautiful invites you to see the historic Casa Adobe de San Rafael on December 10 surrounded in candlelight for the Fiesta de Las Luminarias.
Throughout the year, volunteer members of Glendale Beautiful, a local non-profit dedicated to keeping our city beautiful and preserving our early California history, host an open house at the historic Casa Abode de San Rafael from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 1st Sunday of each month only. Information describing the Casa in Armenian, English, and Spanish is available, and docents can answer questions and share other historical background during the open house.
The historic casa was built for Tomas and Maria Sanchez from adobe bricks made on site. The home was completed in 1871 and is furnished in late 19th-century style. Casa Adobe is California Landmark #235, and is Glendale Register of Historic Resources #3. There is a suggested donation of $2.00 per person to help Glendale Beautiful care for the Casa.

Group and private swim lesson registration is open. Registration for November swim lessons is now available. Registration for December swim lessons begins Tuesday, November 22 at 9 a.m. online. Lesson spaces fill up extremely quickly, so be sure you have your residency verified and that you have a current online account before registering. You can log in at www.myglendaleparks.com to verify your account, and when registering, make sure to refresh your page if there are any delays. We are excited that the Glendale Gators swim team is continuing in the winter. Group and private rentals are also available.

Join us down by the Los Angeles River on the City of Glendale’s Riverwalk, as we work to remove invasive plants from the landscaped areas along the L.A. River. Families, individuals, clubs, and students needing community service hours are welcome. In case of rain, this event will be cancelled.

Help us water our bigcone spruce and coast live oaks, assist with trail repairs, and remove invasive plants from the park. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Are you interested in being a Trail Safety Patrol volunteer for the City of Glendale?
As a Trail Safety Patrol (TSP) volunteer, you have a unique opportunity to assist the City of Glendale by providing public assistance and resource protection. Your influence on park visitors will enhance their experience and safety while in our parks.
TSP volunteers must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check and City-mandated trail safety training, be in good health, and devote a minimum of four hours per month. If interested, please send an email to trails@glendaleca.gov.

GLENDALE OUTDOORS! (GO!) COMMUNITY PROGRAM
Deukmejian Wilderness Park 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA 91214 November 12, 2022 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. FREE
Spend some quality family time enjoying the great outdoors once a month with our naturalists! We invite the public to join us for a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center, an interpretive hike, a classic game with a twist, and an up-close look at a surprising animal diet, all in honor of a gross-ly underappreciated species!
A FREE bus leaves from Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Ave. at 8:30 am and returns at 12:30 pm. Everyone is encouraged to ride the bus, but you may choose to meet us at the park.

- If riding the bus with us (free), please arrive at Pacific Community Center by 8:00 a.m. to check in with staff. The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. and return from Deukmejian at 12:30 p.m.
- If meeting us at the park, please meet us at Deukmejian Wilderness Park by 8:45 a.m.
- Appropriate for children ages 5 to 12.
- Adult supervision is required! One adult for every three children 17 and under is required.
- Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and a hat or cap.

Teen Night Out

Teen Night Out (TNO) occurs every Friday night from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Pacific Community Center. Teen Night Out provides a safe place for teens to hang out and enjoy activities like video games, ping pong, use of a computer lab, and karaoke. On some dates, a workshop is conducted starting at 6:00 p.m. as part of Teen Night Out. Light refreshments will be served. Get Fit In person every Monday 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Get Fit is a free program designed to improve the health status of adults with intellectual disabilities by focusing on nutrition, healthy meal planning, monthly weigh-ins and measurements, stretching and conditioning. Activities are age and skill appropriate. All participants are required to have a completed Release of Liability & Indemnity Agreement form on file.

Maple Inclusive Play Day (MIP Day) creates an opportunity for families with children of all abilities to come to the park, network with each other and allow their children to socialize, all centered around the Shane’s Inspiration all-inclusive playground.

The Elderly Nutrition Program is operating under a hybrid model, continuing to offer Grab and Go Meals as well as in-person dining at one of our three meal sites.

Fitness Classes for Seniors: In-Person and Online
Exercise and fitness classes for seniors are offered in a hybrid format, online AND in-person. You are welcome to join us in either format. Classes include aerobics, slow stretch, line dancing, Zumba, and muscle toning.
If you wish to participate online via Zoom, please email cspcares@glendaleca.gov. We will send you a meeting invitation, meeting ID, and password.
In-person classes must follow all current LA County Health Department protocols. In-person classes will be offered at Pacific Community Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Senior Mixer
Adult Recreation Center 201 E. Colorado St., Glendale, CA 91204 Every Thursday 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
The senior mixer is a great opportunity to socialize with fellow seniors in the greater Glendale community, make new acquaintances, and have a good time.
If you like to salsa, cha-cha, rumba, waltz or boogie, this is the place to be. This activity takes place every other Friday. A suggested donation of $3.00 is collected at the entrance to the mixer. This is a gratuity that is given to the DJ at the end of each event.
