A Message from the City Manager, Roubik Golanian
As we settle back into school routines, it’s easy to think that summer 2022 is over but the heatwave makes us think otherwise. During these times, it’s crucial to stay up to date and informed with ways the City of Glendale and first responders communicate to the public during emergencies and disasters. Keeping this information on hand and following our various platforms ahead of an emergency is critical. Here’s what you should know:
-
Everbridge: Register for important City notifications during large emergencies, including information about evacuations, inundation zones, street closures, and shelter locations. In an emergency, we will use Everbridge to send notifications to your mobile device, email, or landline.
-
Twitter: Follow @MyGlendale to get up-to-the-minute incident updates. You do not need a Twitter account to view updates from our account, just visit Twitter.com/MyGlendale.
-
GTV: GTV will provide important information about the incident on our public access channel. GTV can be accessed on Charter Communications/Spectrum Cable Channel 6 in Glendale/La Crescenta and Channel 16 in Burbank, and on AT&T U-Verse, channel 99. GTV is also streamed online, and on Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV devices using a free app called Screenweave.
-
Websites: Visit any City website during a disaster and you will encounter a screen that provides all important information about the incident. The City of Glendale website is Glendaleca.gov.
-
Emergency Information Center: This center is only open during large scale emergencies and provides residents with an opportunity to speak with a city employee to get incident specific information. Call 818-548- 3301.
You can also visit glendaleca.gov/emergencypreparedness for additional tips and resources. Being proactive is the best approach. If you are not plugged in yet, please take this moment to make note of, signup, or follow these communication methods.
