Glendale Fire Department and ABC 7, in conjunction with Community Services & Parks, invite you to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Montrose Tree Lighting event. Help us cram our classic fire truck with toys! Glendale Firefighters will collect and distribute toys to the underserved children in our community. The children depend on the generosity of our community.

Notice of Availability 2022–2023 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds
The City of Glendale will begin accepting applications for eligible projects to receive funding for FY 2022-2023 for CDBG Public Social Services and Capital Improvement Projects beginning November 3, 2021. Application packets are posted on the City’s website at www.glendaleca.gov/CDBG and are due on/by Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 5:00 pm. The City of Glendale anticipates allocating approximately $1,250,000 to eligible projects.

Thanksgiving and Winter Camps 2021
We are proud to offer our annual seasonal camps, Thanksgiving and Winter Camps, at Pacific Community Center and Sparr Heights Community Center. The camps will provide a safe place and opportunity for campers to play, discover, learn, and interact, all while abiding by L.A. County guidelines. Campers will engage in food activities, science experiments, arts & crafts, individual sports, dance, and more!
Registration for Thanksgiving Camp is almost sold out, so register today!
Registration for Winter Camps will begin on Monday, November 4, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

Hoopapalooza is designed to help improve an individual's strength, knowledge, and overall development of basketball. Join this camp TODAY and you will be able to fulfill your aspirations. Learn the basics and advanced movements of the game. We will also cover dribbling, passing, shooting, and agility. ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME!!!!
Evolution Basketball Holiday Camp
Evolution Basketball teaches the fundamental movement skills and overall motor skills for basketball. The courses are designed to teach the fundamental concepts of basketball, dribbling and passing, shot techniques, spatial awareness, and teamwork. Levels are age-appropriate, and gradually increase children’s ability to help them play the sport of basketball. A jersey is included for all participants.

"Diversity Tree" Art Exhibit
Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station 1020 E. Palmer Ave., Glendale, CA 91205 October 4 - November 12, 2021
"Diversity Tree," by artist, Dillan Garcia, is a mixed media installation, inspired by the materials and art process developed in the Oaxacan experimental art gallery. Materials such as colored rope, copper wire, velcro straps, reflective paint, green LED light strips, sandpaper, fish line, fish hooks, tea bags, clear gorilla glue, and plywood board. The tree is a symbol for L.A County’s diverse population and the drooping tree branches with leaves represent the ethnic communities within, capturing a feeling of cultural unity.
The art display can be viewed at Adams Square Mini Park located at 1020 E. Palmer Ave., Glendale, CA 91205, through November 12, 2021.
This temporary art installation is generously sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services & Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.

Things That Go Bump in the Night Hike Deukmejian Wilderness Park 3429 Markridge Rd., Glendale, CA 91214 Saturday, November 6, 2021 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Come along as we trek through the park and explore the sounds of the night. What animals are out and about during these hours? What are they doing up so late? Who made that sound and what does it mean? Our plan is to hike about two miles on moderately difficult trails with stops along the way for discussion, stories, and activities. This program is recommended for ages 5 and older. At the end of the hike we will have all the ingredients so you can make your own trail mix. Please dress in layers, wear sturdy shoes, bring water and a flashlight. In case of rain, this event will be cancelled. This event is FREE!

Johanna Turner has been tracking pumas in the Verdugo, San Gabriel, and Santa Monica mountains for over ten years. This lecture will feature beautiful wildlife photography of our local felines. Get to know the secretive big cats who share your foothills (some are famous enough to have nicknames!). Find out how motion-sensing ‘camera traps’ work. Learn how to identify a puma track and other signs you might see on your hike. There will be a small selection of framed prints and greeting cards available for purchase. This program is recommended for ages 14 and older. This event is FREE! Seating is limited.

Teen Night Out is Back to In-Person
Every Friday at Alternating Locations 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Teen Night Out is back! In-person Teen Night Out (TNO) occurs every Friday night from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. rotating between two locations, Pacific Community Center and Maple Park Community Center. In-person Teen Night Out provides a safe place for teens to hang out and enjoy activities like video games, ping pong, use of a computer lab, and karaoke. On some dates, a workshop is conducted starting at 6:00 p.m. as part of Teen Night Out. Light refreshments will be served. Maple Inclusive Play Day Third Saturday of each month November 20 and December 18, 2021 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Maple Inclusive Play Day (MIP Day) creates an opportunity for families with children of all abilities to come to the park, network with each other and allow their children to socialize, all centered around the new Shane’s Inspiration all-inclusive playground. Beginning November 29, 2021 Fitness Classes for Seniors Will Take Place In-Person and Online
Exercise and fitness classes for seniors will be offered in a hybrid format, online AND in-person, beginning November 29, 2021. You are welcome to join us in either format. Classes include aerobics, slow stretch, line dancing, Zumba, and muscle toning.
If you wish to participate online via Zoom, please email cspcares@glendaleca.gov. We will send you a meeting invitation, meeting ID, and password.
In-person classes must follow all LA County Health Department protocols including the use of a face covering AT ALL TIMES while inside the community center, even during physical activity. In-person classes will be offered at Pacific Community Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In-Person classes will be offered at Sparr Heights Community Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
