In partnership with the Library, Arts & Culture Department, a new art exhibit called “Lumpen Station” was installed on July 12, 2021 at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station and will be on display until August 20, 2021. “Lumpen Station” is based off of the series “The Revolting Lumpen” by artists, Beck + Col, which features bright, colorful, multidisciplinary experiences combining wearable sculpture, performance, dance, music and live operatic vocalizations. The versatility of textiles allows the artists to build elaborate worlds and the themes running through them. The entire installation was created using three textiles: velvet, cotton and mesh, as well as wood, foam and pex for structure. For the Adams Square Park Gas Station, the artists hung two of the lumpen chandeliers with lights. The bright, inviting colors grab the eye of passersby. As they approached the structure, patrons see the floor of the gas station filled with colorful lumps. The art display can be viewed at the Adams Square Park located at 1020 E. Palmer Ave., Glendale, CA 91205.
This temporary art installation is generously sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services & Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.

Trails & Open Space
Safety Tips While on the Trails!
Bears are active now; here are some tips to keep you safe:
Most bears will avoid humans, especially if they hear you coming. Never come between a bear and its food. Move away slowly. Never turn your back on a bear and never run. This mimics prey and you don’t want to appear to be prey. If a bear has noticed you and is paying too much attention to you, talk calmly, so it recognizes you are a human. Pick up small children immediately. Appear as large as possible by moving to higher ground or by raising your arms. Always leave the bear an escape route. Never feed bears. The saying goes, a fed bear is a dead bear. Once they realize they can get food from you, they will become a nuisance and authorities will take action. If you live where bears roam, secure your trash and do not leave food outside.
Happy Trails from your friends in Trails and Open Space.

Aerobics classes can aid senior citizens in creating a sense of community, value, and purpose in addition to improving physical health. Additionally, the increased upper body and lower body strength that comes with a regular aerobics exercise routine can help with fall prevention.
Slow Stretch Days: Mondays and Thursdays Times: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
