Beginning the week of September 21, the City will bring in a team of goats to graze various City-owned drainage areas, including Dead Man Gulch, in preparation for the upcoming storm season.
Goat grazing is an eco-friendly way to manage vegetation, improve water flow, and help reduce potential flood risks. It also allows crews to maintain sensitive or difficult-to-reach areas where traditional equipment may not be suitable.
Temporary fencing will be installed around active grazing areas to help keep the goats safe. Community members are welcome to watch them at work from a distance, but please respect all fencing and avoid approaching the goats or their working dogs.
Keep an eye out—you may spot Galt’s four-legged vegetation crew hard at work around town!
As we approach one year since the Galt City Council voted to maintain the City’s existing ordinance regarding the parking and storage of RVs, boats, trailers, and campers on residential properties, we want to remind residents that these requirements remain in effect and continue to be enforced.
Code Enforcement is actively working on cases throughout the community. Some property owners have already received notices and may be working through the compliance or abatement process. Because these cases can take time to resolve, a property may still appear out of compliance while enforcement action is underway.
As a reminder, residents must:
- Remove or relocate any RV, boat, trailer, or camper that is in violation of Section 8.20.110(K).
- Maintain at least three feet of continuous fire access in any side or rear yard where an RV, boat, trailer, or camper is located in an RV access area.
- Ensure that RVs, boats, trailers, and campers are not parked or stored on front lawns or within required front yard setbacks, as defined in Galt Municipal Code Section 8.20.110(K).
If a property remains out of compliance, it may proceed through the City’s abatement process, which may result in administrative fines.
We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining the safety, appearance, and welfare of our residential neighborhoods. For questions about compliance, measurements, or fire access requirements, please contact the City of Galt Code Enforcement Division at (209) 366-7209.
