As we approach New Year’s celebrations, we want to remind our community that the possession and use of illegal fireworks is a crime.
The Galt Police Department and City of Galt Code Enforcement will be working together to help keep our community safe. Enforcement efforts will include the use of drone technology to identify individuals using illegal fireworks and to respond to reported violations.
Important Reminders:
-
Each illegal firework used, possessed, or ignited will be treated as a separate violation.
-
First offense: $1,000 fine
-
Each additional offense: $1,000 fine
Penalties apply not only to individuals setting off illegal fireworks but also to property owners, renters, and event hosts who allow illegal fireworks on their premises.
For fireworks complaints or noise issues, please contact the Galt Police Department non-emergency line at 209-366-7000. Please reserve 911 for emergencies only.
Thank you for doing your part to protect your neighbors and keep our community safe.
Bring your family and join us at the Galt Market for one of our favorite holiday traditions—photos with Santa! Santa will be available at the market on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 23 & 24, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Don’t forget to bring your cameras to capture this special holiday moment.
We also want to share that the Galt Market had a fantastic turnout for Veterans Day, welcoming over 17,000 customers over the two-day period. We sincerely thank everyone for their patience and understanding with traffic during this busy weekend.
Come celebrate the season with us at the Galt Market and make lasting memories with family and friends!

As we move into the holiday season, we want to ensure that all Galt residents are aware of temporary changes to their waste collection schedule.
Due to the Christmas and New Year holidays, collection services will be delayed by one day during the following weeks:
- The week of December 25, 2025
- The week of January 1, 2026
Days outlined in red on the calendar indicate the adjusted service days.
For these weeks, each regular collection day will shift forward by one day.
Example: Wednesday service will take place on Thursday for that week only.
What to Expect
- Organics and trash carts will continue to be serviced every week
- Recycle (R) weeks are marked in blue on the calendar
- Please place carts out by 5 AM on your adjusted service day
Please see the holiday schedule below for both December & January!
We are now hiring Head and Assistant Coaches for the Galt Gators Recreational Swim Team.
If you’re passionate about swimming and mentoring athletes, this is a great opportunity to make an impact. Coaches will inspire swimmers to reach their personal best while fostering a safe, positive, and fun environment during practices and meets. You’ll also play a key role in supporting team operations and activities.
Do you know a neighbor who recently completed an impressive yard project? Or a local business whose landscaping, flowers, or outdoor improvements stand out in the community? The Galt Beautification Committee wants to hear from you.
These efforts help make Galt a welcoming place to live, work, and do business. Recognizing those who take pride in their property strengthens community spirit and highlights the beauty residents and business owners bring to our city.
How to Nominate: Submit an email including photos and a brief description of why you’re nominating your neighbor or local business to: planningdivision@cityofgalt.org
Submissions will be selected for special recognition by the Beautification Committee.
This holiday season, consider sustainable gift-wrapping alternatives to help reduce waste:
-
Reuse what you already have: Old wrapping paper, gift bags, packaging materials, newspaper, and tissue paper can all be repurposed.
-
Use fabric: Scarves, cloth, and other fabrics make beautiful and eco-friendly gift wraps.
-
Repurpose boxes: Old cardboard or shoe boxes can be reused to package gifts.
-
DIY bows: Create bows from cloth or other reusable materials instead of buying single-use decorations.
With a few simple swaps, you can make your holiday gifts more eco-friendly while keeping the festive spirit alive.
