Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is set to open in the former Rite Aid location on Twin Cities Road in Galt. This marks a new chapter for the site, which became available following Rite Aid’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in October 2023 — a move that led to the closure of more than 800 stores nationwide, including the Galt location.
Grocery Outlet is well known for offering significant discounts on both name-brand and private-label products. By purchasing overstocked, closeout, and seasonal items directly from suppliers, the retailer is able to pass along substantial savings to its customers. Shoppers can look forward to a broad selection of groceries, fresh produce, health and beauty products, and household essentials — all at reduced prices.
Stay tuned for updates on the official opening date!
Registration is now open for the 13th Annual Officer Kevin Tonn Memorial 5K Fun Run/Walk, taking place on Friday, July 4. Lace up your running shoes or gather your walking group and join us for a morning run or walk through town before the Independence Day Parade kicks off.
This event honors the memory of Officer Kevin Tonn, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on January 15, 2013. Officer Tonn served the Galt community as a police officer for three and a half years and believed that helping and protecting others was the highest calling anyone could have in a community. This run/walk continues his legacy of service, bringing the community together in remembrance and unity.

The City of Galt is proud to join communities across the nation in celebrating National Public Works Week, taking place this year from May 18 to May 24. The 2025 theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” highlights the essential values that drive public works professionals in their daily service.
Public works touches nearly every aspect of our lives — from the streets we drive on and the clean water we drink, to the parks we enjoy and the reliable systems we often take for granted. Often working behind the scenes, public works staff are present every day, ensuring that things run smoothly. And while their work may go unnoticed when everything is functioning well, their contributions are vital.
During National Public Works Week, we encourage residents to take a moment to recognize these dedicated professionals. If you see a public works crew out on the streets, consider offering a wave or a simple “thank you” to show your appreciation.
