The upcoming City Council meeting will feature an important presentation on Galt Municipal Code 8.20.110, Unlawful Public Nuisances. This presentation will focus on regulations related to the parking and storage of boats, trailers, campers, motor homes, and other vehicles on residential properties.
What’s in the Code? Under the current code, it is unlawful to park or store any boat, trailer, camper, motor home, unregistered or non-operable vehicles or other mobile equipment, whether or not motorized, or portions or parts and components thereof, on property used or zoned for residential purposes, if either:
- located on any front lawn or front yard or driveway within the front yard setback measured from the property boundary line; or
- located in any side or rear yard so as to prevent a three foot (3') wide continuous fire access way from the front of the property; or
- located on any side yard within the required side yard setback measured from the property boundary line of any corner lot.
Additionally, trailers, campers, or motor homes cannot be used for residential occupancy unless on property zoned for mobile home parks or camping.
Join the Discussion! This is your chance to weigh in on this important issue! Some community members are advocating for changes to the current code, while others believe it should remain unchanged. Whether you support the existing regulations or think updates are needed, now is the time to make your voice heard.
How Can You Participate?
- Attend the meeting on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers to show your support.
- Share your thoughts during the public comment period.

The Galt Police Department has launched a new platform to improve the handling of non-emergency calls, allowing 911 call-takers to focus on emergencies and respond more efficiently.
This tool, called Prepared, uses an AI-powered assistant to triage non-emergency calls and direct them to the appropriate resources. Whether you’re reporting an abandoned vehicle, a traffic violation, or another non-urgent issue, the assistant will engage with you in real-time, quickly assessing your needs and taking the necessary action. If required, the call will be transferred to the emergency line.
For added clarity, 911 call-takers receive real-time summaries of each call, providing context in case they need to intervene. If the assistant identifies a situation requiring immediate attention, the call will be escalated to a human call-taker. This new system strengthens Galt’s emergency response capabilities. Please continue to dial 911 in the event of an emergency.
