Exciting improvements are coming to Galt thanks to Measure Q! Two key projects recently approved by City Council will enhance recreation opportunities for our community.
The Chabolla Skate Park Enhancements design is moving forward with a newly approved design contract. The proposed plan includes doubling the size of the existing skate park, resurfacing the concrete, installing new fencing and gates, improving restroom access, upgrading lighting, and enhancing sidewalks. To ensure the final design reflects the community’s needs, the City will actively engage the public and work closely with the local skating community throughout the process.
The Gora Aquatic Center Waterslide Replacement project has also been approved, bringing a brand-new, 30-foot waterslide to the facility. Construction is set to begin in February 2025 and anticipated to be complete before the 2026 swim season. To maintain public access, the pools will remain open during the summer months as construction pauses from May to September 2025.
These two projects are just two of many upcoming improvements funded by Measure Q, the City of Galt’s one-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2022. Measure Q funds essential City services, with a focus on maintaining and improving parks, recreation facilities, and public spaces. From upgraded amenities to expanded recreational programming, Measure Q ensures our City continues to thrive.
Stay tuned for more updates as these projects progress!

We are excited to introduce the Galt Youth Commission, a group of ten dedicated high school students who serve as advocates for the youth in our community. These hardworking students are passionate about community service and work diligently to make a positive impact in Galt.
The Youth Commission meets monthly to discuss topics that are relevant to the youth and how they can amplify their voices in advocating for the community. They collaborate with the Galt Beautification Committee for monthly street cleanups and participate in several city events, including the Saturday Market, the Fourth of July Parade, and the Lighting of the Night Parade.
The Galt Youth Commission is a vital part of the community, bringing fresh ideas, energy, and a commitment to service. Keep an eye out for them at upcoming events and join us in supporting these young leaders as they continue to make a difference in Galt.

City Council is seeking input on the district voting map for Galt.
Community members have the opportunity to contribute their thoughts on how district boundaries should be drawn to best represent their neighborhoods.
How Can You Get Involved? We encourage all residents to participate by drawing and submitting their maps to help shape the future of our city's representation. Maps drawn by the public often reflect logical boundaries based on the community, and many cities and districts prefer selecting a public map.
When completed, email the map or a photo of the map to Districts@CityOfGalt.org or return it in person to City Hall, 380 Civic Drive, Galt, CA, by February 11, 2025.

What Does This Mean? The City of Galt is transitioning from at-large elections to district-based elections to select our City Council Members. This change aims to ensure fair and equitable representation for all areas of our city. The first district-based election will be held in November 2026. Under the current at-large election system, voters citywide elect Council Members regardless of where candidates reside. With district-based elections, the city will be divided into geographic districts, and voters in each district will elect a Council Member to represent their specific area.
