We captured questions and concerns of participants, and answers in a Q&A document that we would like to share, which is available at this link.
We're grateful for everyone at the October 30 meeting who provided input that will help influence and shape the Carillion Boulevard Safety Improvement Project going forward.

Galt in the News: Sacramento Area Council of Governments
Photo, Homes.com: https://www.homes.com/local-guide/galt-ca/?dk=j740elnbjdflh&tab=2
SACOG, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, has recently published an article that highlights our city's C Street Enhancements Project. Take a moment to read the article, which focuses on the need for improvements to C Street, its importance to revitalizing businesses, and the connection that C Street enables for our residents, visitors, and businesses.
We anticipate the completion of C Street improvements in February 2025.
The roadway will be open for two-way traffic by the end of December. To learn about the project and its advancement, visit the project website: www.CStreetProject.org.
The City of Galt received $2.5 million in Community Design funds from SACOG for this project.
About SACOG, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments: In partnership with its 28 member cities and counties, SACOG addresses complex challenges that are too big for any one jurisdiction to solve on its own. A dedicated staff of 60 operates under the guidance of a board of directors representing each city and county.
As the sole public agency representing every regional jurisdiction, SACOG fosters collaboration and progress for an equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future. SACOG's multifaceted support extends to local governments, addressing diverse issues such as transportation planning, funding assistance, airport planning, and housing affordability.
The Seating of Our City Council
We’re pleased to announce that the City of Galt has sworn in duly-elected members of the City Council, Matthew Pratton and Timothy Reed, at the Tuesday, December 17, 2024 regular City Council Meeting.
Pratton and Reed were elected to positions that would be vacated by outgoing council members Kevin Papineau and Jay Vandenberg, whose terms expired this year.
Elected members then nominated and seated Bonnie Rodriguez to the City Council. Rodriguez replaces former council member and vice mayor, Rich Lozano, who vacated his seat following election to the Cosumnes Community Services District, CCSD. Rodriguez was a candidate for this year’s City Council election and garnered the same number of votes as Pratton, who ultimately won his seat via a straw-draw tie-breaker. The New York Times has reported this story.
Our election was featured in the New York Times. Pictured, left to right: Bonnie Rodriguez, Matthew Pratton, and Brian Kalinowski
The City and City Staff extend heartfelt gratitude and continued success to Rich Lozano, Kevin Papineau, and Jay Vandenberg for their service, faithfulness, and diligence in supporting the City of Galt. We look forward to their ongoing engagement in our community.
Shawn Farmer has been selected by the Council as Galt’s mayor, which he is anticipated to serve for the next year. Paul Sandhu moves to the vice mayor role from his mayoral leadership of the last year.
We congratulate Mayor Farmer and Vice Mayor Sandhu for selection into these vital local governance roles.

Fake Water Control Notices
The City of Galt Public Works Department has been made aware of notices labeled “Water Control” left on front doors of residences.
- These notices are NOT from the City of Galt, your water supplier.
- City notices always have the City name and Public Works address and phone number on them.
- City Staff all have name badges with their name and photo. We will NOT randomly ask to enter your home to check your water
Thanks to everyone who has contacted the Public Works Department of the City of Galt regarding this issue. You can call Public Works at 209-366-7260 with questions & concerns.
Play Structure Dismantle at Sports Complex Park
The City of Galt Parks and Recreation Department is removing the slides at the Sports Complex Park. Unfortunately, due to wear and tear and the unavailability of replacement parts, it is a safety concern for our residents. Please be aware that we are working on a replacement.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete this work.

Holidays Reminder to Sort Organics, Check Wrapping Paper & Ornaments
Californians are required by law, S.B. 1383, to separate organic waste out of their trash and sort that waste to their previously named green waste cart. This law targets removing food waste, and organic material as a whole, from landfills. Organic material in landfills are attributed for generating 20% of the State’s methane according to CalRecycle, the State’s solid waste governing agency. Additionally, CalRecycle has found that organic waste makes up half of all waste that is dumped in landfills.
To reduce organic waste this holiday season and beyond, make sure to shop carefully for food items, store them properly for extending edibility, and ensuring that you place food and food scraps into your green waste cart.
Also...wrapping paper and ornaments often are made with plastics and cannot be recycled. Please make sure to check the packaging for these items and dispose of them correctly in your waste cart and not in the recycling cart.
